RE: Lookin for Tires

Now is a good time to upgrade to 16" wheels and get some US made LT tries. I had 15" rims and had my share of bad luck. 2 of them were goodyear marathons. I bit the bullet and spent money on new aluminum 16" rims and BF goodrich Commercial T/A 225/75R-16. its an investment, alot of money to dish out at once, but I have no regrets and ride down the road with confidense. Money well spent! Good luck

RE: OK, where do I start to look first, and KISS it please..

Do you have a volt tester to check for power. start right at the batteries and work toward converter

RE: 13% Hitch Weight

The hitch weight of a fiver will effect how it tows. You will want around 20% hitch weight with the fiver. You could get a bounce/bucking feeling if hitch is too light.
After i weighed mine fully loaded, I was at 18%. now i just load more things in the front of the fiver to balance the weight, putting more weight on hitch.
load up and go to the scales

RE: Real world gas mileage?

05 LLY duramax 2500
17.5 mpg(empty)as a daily driver combination city/hywy driving. calculated the old fashion way, when i fill up, i set tripometer to 0 and next time i fill up i do the math on calculator.
hooked to the fifth wheel, my total weight is 17200, and i get 10.5 mPG, calculated the same way
PS. when towing on hywy, i have a heavy foot and cruise at 70 mph,

RE: Stiffness of LT vs ST tire - effect on rear-mount bike rack.

You won't be able to tell the difference! Relax. We replaced our china bombs with the 110psi G 14-plys, and nothing fell off yet.
I have read alot of tire threads over the past 1 1/2 years.. "China bombs" :B is indeed the perfect name for these tires.:B
I replaced mine with "E" rated BF goodrich commercial TA's. I ride down the road with no worries, worth every penny!!
ALWAYS check tire pressure before each trip and at stops during!
