RE: Camera in the back to RV to watch the bicycles

As a last resort you could carry them on the front of your tow vehicle like we do. They're never out of sight.

RE: Bicycle Towing...Help?!?!?!

I installed a FRONT receiver to my pickup and carry my bikes on a "cargo carrier" mounted to the receiver........works for me......bikes ride up front...secure with no wobbling and I can keep an eye on em. Just remove the bike seats for extra visability.

RE: Snow on the 5er all Winter...

We had a storm here a few years back that dropped about 17 inches in the city. Took forever to dig out of it and a long time to melt. That's very rare for us here in Albuquerque. They've been getting buried in the northern parts of NM this year. I don't know how you guys do it year after year. We had a storm here 2 days ago that dropped a couple inches but it's all melted now. Sunny and about 46 degrees here today. We're getting a lot more moisture this year than in recent years, but I couldnt handle what some of you go through EVERY year.....

RE: too big for some parks

Our first trailer was a basic 31ft Fleetwood Prowler T.T.with one slide, towed by my 1/2 ton Shortbed Silverado. It was fairly easy to manuever but the living quarters were a little tight. Although it was a nice little trailer and I liked it, we decided to look at 5ers and ended up ordering our current 5er,a 39ft Cardinal with 4 slides which meant that I then had to buy a new truck a Silverado C.C. Diesel longbed to pull it. Bottom line this.......more luxury = more $$$!!!! and although the 5er tows nicely and we do enjoy it,when towing something this large, with a large tow vehicle you REALLY HAVE TO PLAN YOUR STOPS for fuel, etc. There are times when pulling into an area that I'm not sure about, I'll actually get out of the truck and walk over to plan what path of travel that I'll have to take. Never worried as much about that when towing the T.T. Another thing to be concerned about are tires on these large 5ers......my tires are G rated @ 110lbs of pressure....expensive and always a concern while towing with all of the horror stories about blowouts on large 5ers.

RE: Would getting a long bed truck be a bad idea for the FW?

Had a shortbed and swore that I would NEVER buy another one...........I always mount a toolbox on my truck and with a shortbed I never had enough room to carry much stuff in the bed. In my opinion, the shortbeds look nice but aren't practical for me....but again that's just "me". Currently have a Longbed regular cab 1/2 ton and a one ton longbed crew-cab dually to pull the Cardinal 5er.

RE: TrailAir Question

Have the trail- aire and like it........just make sure that you check air pressure in air-bag prior to towing and air it up if necessary as it will lose some air over time and if not checked, there is the possibility of the fiver hitting your truck siderail(s) on a severe uneven sharp turn.

RE: Electric awning questions

After my wife and I had to go outside in a rainy windblown cold night to retract our manual awning on our first trailer, I swore that my next trailer would have an electric one. Don't be afraid of change.....you will love the convenience of just pushing a button to extend and retract. My awning has two features....first feature senses heavy wind and will retract automaticaly. Second senses rain pooling and will automatically tip the right corner for a split second to let it runoff. Get the new trailer.....don't look back and enjoy !!..life's too short!

On your return check out the Colonial Williamsburg KOA right off of I64. My wife and I camp there twice a year and it's a great place. Reservations necessary. Nice large pull throughs for your toy hauler. Click on above link.

RE: Waste Valves

we have tried filling up the bathroom sink and tub with hot water and then releasing at once with the caddy hooked up - no water flow... any other ideas?
My guess is that you have a frozen chunk in your tank,,,,,,,,probably will be OK once the temps rise.

RE: grease a hitch?

Instead of greasing the king pin you could spray it with Slip Plate dry lubricant. Spray some on the jaws also. Great stuff and doesn't get dirty from dust. I use it on my pullrite slider and the king pin and jaws. For those who use the teflon lube plate can't you get them in different thicknesses? I also have heard about some people grinding them down to the thickness required. Just some thoughts. Merry Christmas X2 good stuff

RE: Cleaning water heater

I just turn my hose nozzle to full stream and forcefully shoot water into the water heater drain hole until the water flushes out relatively clean..........works for me.

RE: Good Sam Emergency Road Service

Only reason that I belong to the Good Sam Club is for the discounts @ KOA and a few other places.....otherwise they are a PITA with all of their CONSTANT unwanted promo mailings. They've been told to stop them but they continue to come and I continue to send them to the recycle bin.

RE: 120V supply while In Route

I bought a extra 700W INVERTER with 3 A/C plugs to connect my 3 120 V heat tapes installed on all my pipes while in route in cold weather. While camping we will get the 120 15Amp service from the campground pedestal along with the 50 Amp.
Is it okay to run the INVERTER off the main RV battery bank (2 12V Deep Cycle)? It shouldnt run down the batteries as they will be getting charged from the Truck HD Altenater while driving. Once at the campground I will unplug from the Inverter and use the 15Amp 120V pedestal power plugged into a A/C Strip.
The 12V Tank heaters of course will be running off the same RV battery bank. I also have a Battery Tender.
Seems like I have all the right equipment just not sure on how to hook it all up
Thanks
Where do you plan on driving....thru the Yukon:)......sounds like overkill to me.

RE: Greasing wheel bearings

My opinion is that alot of folks are doing a little "overkill" by repacking EVERY year UNLESS the wheels are submerged in salt water or high mileage is put on the trailer.

RE: Storage door locks #Ch751

We have traveled many miles and very seldom lock the basement. Any screw driver will open any RV storage box. And the storage boxes aren't cheap or easy to get. GBY....
Agree........I removed my locks and replaced them with Plain "thumb catches". The way I look at it if someone wants to get into your storage compartments these "locks" and flimsy doors aren't going to keep anyone out anyway.
