RE: Installing larger hard drive ?

What O/S? You may have to go into disk management after all is said and done and force the drive letter to change to D:, it is pretty easy to do so.
He will not have to force anything. After copying and installing the new drive in the laptop it will come up as drive D.

RE: Installing larger hard drive ?

With the new drive in the enclosure, copy everything from D to the new drive. After everything is copied over install the new drive in place of the current drive D.
When you do the copying the new drive will have a drive letter that is not D. When you install it in the laptop it will be drive D.

RE: traveling with my cat

It worked out well with our cat. He came out to the MH several times when I was working on the interior before we left. He figured out he could watch everything that was going on while he was laying on the foot of the bed. He got to know the MH before it started moving. He didn't like going in the car or being in a carrier. From the first time we started the MH with the door closed he went to the bed and that is where he stayed as long as we were moving. When we are ready to go all I have to do is start the engine or turn on the front fan and he goes to the bed. To and from Alaska he did just fine.

It should be level when it is on, either eledtric or gas. When it is off it doesn't matter.

A weak cell. Check converter voltage output. Should be around 13.5v.

RE: Satellite dish

Take a look at this mount you can make. Low profile, more wind resistant, easy to store.

RE: Satellite dish

Just an option to consider. Take a look at this low profilt mount made of PVC pipe. Very resistant to movement by the wind.

RE: Inverter & converter change-out, help!

A good inverter install is part of a system. It is not something you can easily rip out and move to a new unit. If you are serious about ataying for days without hookups you need to understand 12v storage capacity. You won't get enough storage without adding batteries.
What is not addressed at all is the 120v output of the inverter. To do it right it should be wired up to power everything except the AC, water heater and refer.
That means installing a 120v sub panel for inverter output, pulling all of the other loads from the existing breaker box to the sub panel. You either do that or use extension cords, not pretty.
I installed a 2000w inverter rewiring the 120v side took longer than anything.

RE: Power options for trailer

When you are not connected you operate on 12v battery power. When the batteries get down to 50% capacity you run the generator to charge them up. Repeat the cycle. Don't discharge batteries below 50% capacity, about 12.1 volts. You need some way to measure battery voltage so you understand what is going on. See my signature.

RE: Verizon to get Iphone???

Don't think that's going to happen. AT&T is somehow keeping Apple happpy. They want users to have an iPhone data plan, an iPad data plan and have AT&T U-Verse TV and broadband.

RE: Testing solar panels for blocking diode?

Using the meter on ohm setting: Connected one way across the diode, the meter should show a very low resistance. Connected the other way across the diode, it should show a very high resistance. If there is no change there is no diode. Only problem is knowing where the diode is.

RE: Short-term Internet Access While Traveling

If you have a Verizon phone you could use it to tether. Even though your phone is old it will still tether and provide enough speed for email and light browsing. When you add a Verizon plan for tethering it can be done added and removed on a month to month basis without any contract changes. Used with available WiFi that may be enough to get you by when you don't have a Verizon signal.

RE: connecting

If you connect at the inverter the issue will be:
Are the cables fron the inverter to the battery large enough or will you have to replace them when you install the inverter. For a 1000w inverter you should have at least #2 wire for runs ov six feet or less. If the run is greater than six feet you have to go to a larger wire.

RE: inverter problem?

The device that converts 120v AC to 12v DC is a converter. An inverter converts DC to AC.
