RE: Best CR-V...'06 and earlier, or '07 and later?

I have had a 2004, 2006 and now a 2008 CRV. I liked the 2006 best. The 5-speed automatic transmission was geared lower than the 2008 and it seemed to have more low end power. I also liked the folding picnic table and the easy to install towing lights in an empty taillight compartment. Another plus was the rear window that opened for carrying long objects.

RE: 2010 Honda CRV

We have a 2008 CRV and unlike our 2004 and 2006 CRVs, the battery will go dead after extended towing, especially if I tow for two consecutive days. The solution was to purchase the Brake Buddy "Towed Vehicle Battery Maintainer" for $25.00. The installation requires a 12 volt wire from the RV to the CRV. I changed my 4-wire setup to a 5-wire connection. Now, the CRV battery is "trickle charged" as we travel. Problem solved.

RE: CRV / Brake Buddy & power requirement

I have a 2008 CRV and use the Brake Buddy. I experienced several blown fuses by plugging into the dash cig lighter. I contacted Brake Buddy and they said this was happening on late model CRVs. They sent me a new, fused, dedicated line and new cig receptacle. I wired directly to the battery terminal and installed the new cig receptacle next to the existing one in the dash. It works great.
Also, I experienced my Honda CRV battery going dead if I towed it two consecutive days. Again, I contacted Brake Buddy and they have a small battery charger for $29 as I recall. I ran one extra wire from my coach to this small charger and that solved the battery problem.
And, do not tow the CRV more than 8 hours without re-doing the engine/transmission preparation. See your Honda manual

RE: Towing with a Class A

We tow a 2008 CRV with an air brake system attached the MH. Traveling through the mountains in CA., it has been a life saver on more than one occasion. :)

RE: Does anyone tow a Miata?

We had a 1999 Miata (auto...wife's car) then we bought our first motorhome. Decided too many issues to tow the auto Miata. So bought our 1st CRV in 2005 to tow. Now have a 2008 CRV pushing our DSDP.

RE: Honda CR-V 2009

We tow a 2008 CRV, towed about 18000 miles, so far. If you do not have a factory Nav system, you do not have to pull any fuses. I learned this from the forum and from doing it. The battery draw, without the nav system is about .2 amps, not enough to kill a battery while being towed. Make sure all lights, ac, and radio are off, and tow away. Very good toad.
The ever opinionated Muffin Man.
Just as an aside, Blue Ox says not to tie into the existing wiring. They recommend a separate bulb be installed on each side, thats what I did and no trouble and no fuse removal either. TTFN

RE: Replacing Toad this fall

Honda CRV's are 100% made in Japan, and really don't help help our struggling economy any. C'mon folks, get with it now or forever live with this economy.
JMHO
Not correct
I just purchased a 2009 CR-V manufacture date 07/09
final assembly point: OHIO
window sticker states that over 50% of the components are of North American origin.
There are three manufacture points for CR-V's Ohio, Mexico and Seyama, Japan.
My purchase of a CR-V is keeping workers in Ohio employed.
I was with a friend last April when he bought a 2008 CRV at Earnhart Honda in Avondale AZ. It wasmade in Japan and had Zero US parts content. The salesman was quite proud of this fact.Turned my stomach.
Normally The First year of a Honda car is made 100% in Japan (2007 CR-V was first year of body change) so if it was a 2007 model yes it was 100% Japan. West coast of US seems to get most of the Hondas from Japan or Mexico, while Eastern US gets them from Ohio.
I would have preferred A GM or Ford product (I still own GM & Ford Products and even FORD stock!) but the CR-V is the best bang for the buck that can be towed flat 4 with a Automatic 2 wheel drive.
I spend my money wisely and always TRY to buy Ameican USA products. It's getting very hard to do. Read the window stickers & door labels to see where your vhehicle is manufactured. On a Honda you can get a North American Made one if that makes you feel any better. Are the GM Ford plants still up in Mexico ? or How about you sprinter fans is that a 100% USA built and part supplied Chassis. Is your Ford F150 or Dodge Ram built from 100% USA built parts ?
Basher's, Who owns a USA made TV or Home Stereo or Computer ?
Take a look at those shoes you are wearing, and tell us where they were made. How about the tires on your car? Or the toaster in your kitchen? Let's see you go just 1 month without buying ANYTHING made in China :o

RE: On a 09 HHR, CRV, Fit or Scion XB do the miles accumulate?

My 2008 CRV odometer does not record towing miles.

RE: Honda CRV towed miles on odometer?

On a 2008 CRV, if you tow it, Honda says change trans/diff. fluid every 2 years; no mileage given. Just change fluid every 2 years.

RE: Your Opinions on "TheUnified Tow Brake" - By U.S. Gear,

I need some information on this system and installation on a 2008 CRV. Specifically, are there any problems with space or installation that I should be aware of? This is a system that interests me, but in my research I have found no specific info on installing in my vehicle. Other systems do present space problems.

RE: What to do with bikes

Curt makes a Class III hitch for the 2008+ CRV that you can put a receiver mounted bike rack on. I have one for my 2000 CRV. I have a Thule rack that I can switch between the MH and the toad.
See pics here.
Edit: I've also added a picture of the Thule roof rack system for the Honda CRV. It's another very nice product.

RE: Honda CRV Fuse Removal??

We have an 2008 CRV, same thing as 09. We were told . by Honda, if you have Nav system, pull the fuse, if no Nav system, don't worry. Towed our no-Nav equipped 08, 8000 miles last summer and never had a problem with battery. Used a Brake Buddy, no problems. Take all info for what it's worth.
Blue Ox tow bars and wiring say use separate bulbs in the taillight housing, do not tie into factory wiring. Might make a difference!
