JohnnyT...Thanks for this thread. We are selling our toad and next Monday I was going to start listing at various sites and papers but wasn't quite sure what was available as far as places to advertise. Your timing is perfect.
Is there some reason this site doesn't have an AD section? My guess is it would be a real pain to take care of.

I sold my toad through RV NET. Someone wrote they were looking for a toad and I sent him a PM. Worked out good for both of us.

Call me cheap if you wish but I was a little taken back that these dollys could easily run three grand.
I went for a so called K-Mart special holds 40 to 80 inches wide 4900 lbs with electric brakes for a retail price of 1595.00
The other brand was galvanized and folded up to a mere 67" for stowing away better than my traditional dolly that is about 120 inches and "does not fold away" I figure it is balances so well I should be able to slide most o the front of it under the rear of the rv or at least out of harms way.
There was a guy selling a similar model by the same manufacture on craigs list.com for $995 and I was ready to run until a) I found out that new his model cost $100 more than his selling price. OK sure he "says" he only drove it 1,000 miles but heck, a person can not expect to get near all their money back although I have seen it done.
What backed me away was his anwer to my question, Does it have any brakes? NOPE It was the cheapest model without brakes with a max of 74" wide.
I am not sure how often they break down but tere are such few moving parts involved I just cant see much of a high mortality rate on anything other than the car your towing should it come loose.
That is the part I fear. I always pulled a 1995 Saturn SL1 with a blue ox (old steel type) tow bar and it was a snap to hook up. Although I could not back up 2 inches max.
From what I figure Tow Dolly are like police. When you need one they are no where to be found, when your late to work they are everywhere.
Good luck. I did about 4 days research took a day to buy and now going nuts trying to find the "open" in my blue wire ( brakes wire) that runs from the front of the RV back to the 7 pin connector.
PS I would like to add do not buy one of those so called portportional brake controllers. Buy one that uses inetia (like a pendulum)
I am ready to take the one I bought back to K-mart as soon as I am done making a trip to visit a buddy dieing of lung cancer in the hospital in N.C.
They all seem to have 4 wires comming from them. one is power from your battery, the 2nd (in no speial order) is one for the ground, the third comes of the side of the brake switch that causes your rear brakes to turn on and lastly a blue wire that runs varoius amounts of power to a blue wire that goes to your RV plug.
I think this portportional stuff should be outlawed.
I am making a post about it seperate to this post.
Good luck on your quest for your dolly. Master tow is the manufacture that I found was the cheapest but I did not have the patientce to compare to others. I probably will wish I had.
