I am sure it was a buy back.

Barret Jackson doesn't allow "buy backs" or "shelds". It is truely an absolute aucton. If it was bought back they paid a sellers and a buyers fee and the owner documentation changed hands.

This has been their policy for the past couple years.

they clearly expected it to bring in the 200K range because of the order they had it listed in lot order. They always place items near other items they expect to bring simular amounts. Lots before and after brought in the 200K range.

Well I feel for them because its worth alot more then 44k. I have entered auctions like this before and will have someone buy it for me if its tanking. I would much rather pay all the fees then loose that type of money.

Yes it does, and you would probobly have the same luck getting into a RV park for the nite with a garbage truck. I doubt you are going to be parking @ Indio with Draco unless they are real impressed with the cable tv time it got once. In fact some KOAs might complain.

Draco is gone, SOLD, nasty experience but we had to do it. My wife Ross is very ill, we can't be on the road any more, maybe some day.......... Lyme Disease has finally gotten us. We haven't stopped fighting though.

Draco1,

Sorry to hear that your wife is ill.

It is unfortunate that you had to sell your toy. I saw it a couple of years ago on a TV show that showcased unusual motorhomes. I was impressed with your vision. You must have had to put lot of work into converting an airport crash track into an RV.

I don't know if you got nearly what you wnated for it, but I hope the proceeds help to improve you and your wife's quality of life.

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

Good Day
Draco was more like a giant wheelchair for Ross than a toy, sitting at home suffering for six years was the alternative. The new owner bought it as a toy, they don't have a chronic illness that could kill them.
Our intention was to donate some of the proceeds to two non profit organizations, Lyme Disease Research and Operation Migration. Barrett-Jackson would not let us show the checks on camera, I also had spectacular pictures for a slide show, they refused to show those as well. Strange that some vehicles got fifteen minutes of exposure and lots of bonus chit chat and we got treated that way. Dracos chassis was $100,00.00, the rest of the parts cost $200.00.00, the build took fifteen months ten hours a day, five days a week. A duplicate today would cost between $900,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Parted out the pieces could be sold for $100,000.00. I know we took our chances because of "No Reserve" but we also expected much more performance from Barrett-Jackson. The outcome was well below what we thought would be our "worst case".
