Folks I started this thread a long time ago to offer insight into budgets and all and hopefully be able to offer some good basic budget worksheets for people to work from. As mentioned everyone's needs are different and not any one persons budget may fit another. My budget or Barb's budget or even Kirks budget may not fit others. We're all different end everyones lives are dynamic that we all have different incomes, interests and desires. Lets not turn the thread into a "my budget is better than yours or a your budget is unreasonable. As Barb stated "There is no one right way to fulltime, just as there is no one right vehicle to do it in". I'll go one step further and ad there is no one right budget that fits all.

I agree. Some folks live very happily on $2000 a month, and others have trouble on $8000 a month. It's all what your used to. I just started a month ago, and the wife and I are still figuring out where our comfort zone is.

We are just getting ready to start off on 8-12 months of F/T . We need all the help we can muster and your spread sheet is just a fine start. Although I have made graphs and tables this will be well used.

I had estimated out our budget for our graduation on May 1, 2009 to fulltimers... and then read through this thread.
I didn't put anything down for propane... Since we are going to Alaska... I think the DW may be upset if I don't re-estimate the budget... ha.
This thread was a big help and I thank all for their examples.

We started fulltiming in 1998 and have been fulltiming off and on since then (currently fulltime). Here is a link to a spreadsheet on our website (www.rvllifestyle.net) that shows our average monthly expenses for the last 10 years. We realize that everyone is different and that their expenses will be different. We offer this history of our expenses for "newbies" to get an idea of what costs may be and for fulltimers to compare their expenses. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact me.

I also think that in the beginning there are going to be some months when your budget is blown out of the water, i.e. DSO needed hearing aids and new glasses...4 new tires for the trailer and 4 new tires for the truck. As we go along, money is in the budget for future expenses of this kind but in the beginning, they took a bite out of the budget. Things are smoothing out now.

We have been fulltiming since May, 2007 and our monthly living expenses average around $1,700/month. We boondock almost all the time and don't eat out much.
