Can our levelers be hurt if there down and an earthquake hits.
I'm close to Northridge. In 1994, I saw skid marks in driveways from the driveways jerking back and forth under vehicles. It was quite a ride. Lateral accelerations approached 1 G and about a foot of motion. I didn't have jacks at that time, but I don't doubt that my jacks might be damaged in a similar earthquake. I keep it lifted anyway. With luck, the fore and aft motions (relative to the MH) will precede the side to side motions and I'll simply roll off my swingdowns. The MH will never tip over in either case.

Just getcha a rat, weasel or snake as a pet, and if they leave, drop the jacks and head for the can.

Animals may sense when earthquakes are coming..

We had a 5.6 at 8:03 PM last night. My coach on 3 legged jacks hardly moved. It didn't seem to move as much as the house.

Mine has been stored along side my house on the jacks for 2.5 years now, don't know how many earth shakers we have had, but it's fine.
I don't lift the tires off the ground though.

I don't know what would happen. It's a gamble.
But, I will tell you about an experience. I was flying a Learjet, on short final to Santa Monica, and the tower advised that they were experiencing an earthquate,......"please say intentions". I landed, and while taxi-ing and while stopped on the ramp, the earth moved,...sideways. It was too weird. I feel pretty sheltered here in San Antonio.

Sheltered in Texas? Now that's a good one!

I don't live in CA. I have never been in an earthquake. I don't own a class A with jacks.

But I DO enjoy solving a problem. It's the engineer in me.

I would try this: Use high stacks of fairly narrow wooden blocks and lower the jacks just an inch or two. In the event of earthquake, the stacks topple over and gently (more or less,) put the weight of the rig back on the wheels, where the suspension protects the rig. The jacks aren't extended enough (no leverage) to get bent.

What do you think?

It's not the rig, it's where you go and who you go there with.

I think you are probably right, but it will be a big surprise if you are in the coach when it happens.

Just wondering???????????? Would I get any damage if a meteor hit dead center on my mh while I had my levelors down and it was Saturday and the Cowboys had just won the superbowl????????????

Why worry about things you have no control over? Life is too short, do what ya gotta do and let the Lord take care of the rest.

BobMary8101. If I heard the Super Bowl was on Saturday, then I might worry about earthquakes and meteors.
