Billygo, Yes and maybe...if it is a 4x4 yes the Transfer case has to be in neutral and shifter in park or 2nd gear. If it is a 2x4 and a stick shift I think you can put it in neutral and go, but if its an auto trans its a no go. You need to look at your owners manual to make sure in all cases. Personally I would not recommend doing it as the full weight of the vehicle is on the tie down straps when breaking compared to a front wheel drive vehicle with the Tranny in park. If you do keep a close eye on the tie down straps as they are nylon and stretch. I pulled several different vehicles on a dolly and the Rover the same as a 4x4 jeep on the dolly felt the least secure.
But please check your owners manual for the proper transmission procedures as you have not gave a year or running gear type.

Pretty sure 4WD Jeep Wrangler can only be towed 4 down or trailered.
Not sure about 2WD models. What does your owners manual say?

The Wrangler should not be towed on a dolly. Check your owners manual.

of all the TOADs out there the Jeeps have to be the easiest and cheapest to setup for 4down towing. Wranglers in particular. I'd reccomend that route

I attempted to post this a couple days ago but somehow it got lost. The manual for our 04 Jeep Wrangler 4wd specifically warns against towing it on a dolly whether it's an automatic or stick shift. I was originally going to put it on the dolly until I installed the baseplates for the towbar. Glad I looked in the manual before I tried it.

It says it can be towed with either all 4 wheels on the ground or all 4 wheels on a trailer.
