DW and I are going to look at a 2000 Terry 285S Saturday. We have been trying to decide on a new unit, with bunks for 2 kids, for over a year now, but ran into this one from a dealer at the Pittsburgh RV show last weekend. Has anyone had this unit and liked it or disliked it?

I can't tell you about that model, but I've owned 2 Fleetwood 5ths, and my daughter and husband have a Terry Dakota TT. We have liked all of these units, and had great service out of Fleetwood. Some are Fleetwood bashers, but after 3 units, we really like them.

I have an 05 Terry 5th 2 bedroom model, and Very happy with it.
IMO if you've been looking for a year and you like what you see. Check it over top to bottom, and make and offer pending a towing test. (drag it around for a bit see if anything shakes loose). And take your new rig home.
We spent 3 yrs looking till we found ours. We(my wife) knew as soon as we (she) saw it.

I have a 2000 Terry model 275J (I think) and very pleased with it. I'm no expert but the qualily seems outstanding. The only negative is the limited storage space but there is enought for what I really need, not what I want to carry.

We have a 2002 285J Terry with rear kitchen and love it. We took it to Alaska last year and had no trouble. It's a great unit.

We had a 1998 Terry 25.6 rear kitchen with one slide. We were very happy with it. Only drawback was I could not stand up in the bedroom.
It was a good quality unit and stood up well. Got a good price for it when we sold it.

Our Terry is a 2000 30 5G the EX series. This is our 5th trip to Quartzsite, AZ so it has a lot of miles on it. The only problem we have had & continue to have: on the front end at the very bottom where the nose fastens to the frame I keep breaking the bolts off. While at the dealer getting this repair made I checked one of their used units which by the way was newer than mine & it also had at least one bolt broken. To check for this problem there is a small door that the light cord runs out off open it up & feel across the front & find the bolts to see if they are loose or even broken off.
As I mentioned I am still having these bolts break even after installing a 5th Airborne air ride pin box. So please if any one reading has had this problem & can give me any pointers on how to keep these bolts from breaking send me a PM.

I have had this unit before 285S. It's a good camper up to the point of the front bedroom on the left front corner on the night stand it seemed to leak all the time. It was under warranty anfd they still coundn't fix it in the 2 years of the warranty terms. We traded it in on a Coachmen due to the high cost of rebuilding the whole front. Make sure you check this unit out good up front and check the roof up top in the corners to see if it is soft.

I currently loved own a 2000 terry 285s. Sadly it is for sale as it no longer meets our needs. It is an excellent family trailer, we have had virtually no problems with it. Easy to tow, easy to back up. We enjoyed our many trips in it.
