first, if you pay 50000.for a new truck, like i said more money than brains.2-if you are going to buy a new car or truck for towing, sure get one thats easy to tow with no modifications.i am talking about a person with a little older vehicle out of warrenty thats paid for and they like.1000 bucks for a driveline disconnect or 20000 to 30000 $ for a new vehicle.just find out the reason it can not be towed and work with it.and next time you take your vehicle in for work be sure and let the tech know that you think of him or her as just a grease monkey,i'm sure that will go over well.

...and, what does this mean?

What Big Red Thunder is saying is that it can make more since to adapt a paid for vehicle rather than buy a new one. We put a Remco Drive Shaft Disconnect on our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that only had 35,000 miles on it rather than spend over 30,000 for a new vehicle. The Jeep is automatic and a 4X2. The DSD works great.

I had my truck for 100k mile so all warranties were no concern. I spoke directly to the ford tech and not a dealship when i went to find anything out. You know dealership... trather sell ya one then help with one. Remco will sell a disconnect that will allow to disconnect drive train.

Serious it took me less then 20 minutes in the WAL MART parking lot to reinstall the drive shaft. 4 bolts is it. Remind everyone. This is my experience on my 2002 . I recommend nothing just my experience first hand.

Sorta like learning about different parks having different water pressure and the current set blowing off my water lines!! Still a green horn here!!! lol

you can tow the ford 4x2 or 4x4 all you need is a driveline disconnect.

My mechanic advised against using the disconnect, although the Remco guy was all for it. He advised dropping the driveshaft, because he thinks the disconnect will add wobble and vibration. I can invest $100 for tools and a slidey thing to get under the truck, no problem. Lots cheaper than another vehicle.

Anyway, has anyone done this with my particular truck?

WEll here is my .02 . I have a 4x4 f150 supercrew. I have spoken with several Ford people and this is what they told me.

Drop the drive shaft or use a disconnect
Put the switch to 2h
Put ingintion to unlock wheel (no power)

Tow away... I just put 1100 mile on this way with no problems

What did you do for brakes and lights?

See, you thought this would be the usual "I am towing a 40 foot fifth wheel with my F250" post. But, it's not.

I have been towing a 36 footer with one, and just struck a deal for a 43 Monaco Dynasty. No, I am not going to tow this with the F250, although I don't doubt that it would do it. I would like to tow the F250 (diesel 4WD) behind the Dynasty, 4 wheels down. Any problems or issues that I should be aware of?

I did get them to give me a $1500 allowance at camping world for a hitch. What should I think of?

What did you end up doing?
