Hey all! Hope everyone is well. It has been quite sometime since I've posted.
I am search of a new truck/tow vehicle. I am looking for all opinions regarding Ford 250, Chevy/GMC 2500 and Dodge 2500 Ram. I have been a longtime Chevy/GMC fan, but have recently been buying Fords. I had a 2002 Excusion Diesel which was an awesome vehicle. I also do know that there have been many problems with the latest version diesels (my brother has one and has had some issues). I also am aware that Ford has about the most features in a truck as far as the built in brake controller and step/handle at the tailgate.
Here is one other key factor...my needs...I will use this as an everyday truck. ALso, towing my 32' trailer about 4 times a year back and forth from NC to CT with shorter tows in between. I would also like to within the next couple years upgrade to a bit larger TT. I would like a 34 or 36'possibly.
Please give me any/all feedback regarding your experiences with NEWER model Chevy/GMC, FORD, and DODGE DIESEL trucks.
THanks in advance....I look forward to reading all the opinions.

If you are planning to go to a bigger trailer in the near future(while you still own this new truck), I strongly suggest you opt for a one ton truck over a 3/4 ton. Give you more weight carrying capability. I think you will be best served by taking a weekend and test driving each make of truck offered. They all are very capable of meeting your towing needs. Kind of like finding which one fits you the best, just like a pair of jeans. Spend some time on the manufacturer's web site and look over all the options/trim levels. Some brands will not let you customize your truck as you may want it, such as certain differential gear ratios, cab size/bed length. You do have to watch the carrying capacity/towing weight limits for certain cab configurations and if 4wd or 2wd. Crewcab/longbed/4wd will lower those capabilities. The Chevy/GMC and Ford heavy duty pickups are of new designs, I think the Dodge heavy duty's will be updated very soon, take a look at the nice looking 2009 Dodge 1500 as an example. I own a late model Ford diesel and I talk to a lot of others who own the trucks, like me very satisfied with their purchase. The Chevy/GMC, Ford and Dodge are all great trucks, you just got to find the one that you like the best.

I would think any would do a good job. Just depends on your preferences. Personally I would not trade my 05 for a newer (any brand) with the DPF. The mileage is really suffering the new emissions. I plan on keeping my truck forever. If I should lose it from accident or stolen I would replace it with another 5.9 or Classic Chevy D/A. And only putting 5k miles a year on I would even look at a Ford V10. JMHO Good Luck.

Let's not even start on this one.
They are all outstanding trucks. If you were to test drive all of them blind folded you would have trouble telling which one you were in.
When talking about these three, your decision should not be which one, but which color...
Line up all three side by side and pick the one that LOOKS best to you.

You be the judge, test drive them, mark down the + and -. Then go check for the good deals.
They are all good. I would pick a Ford then a Dodge and a GM last.
2002 Ford F150 SuperCrew 4X4 FX4 Lariat, 5.4L Triton V8, Precision 4.10LS
2004 Keystone Springdale 249BH 26' Fifth wheel (5800# empty)
Husky 16K dual pivot glider. TomTom One 3rd edition.
18 mpg empty, 11 mpg towing.

I test drove the new Ford F450 and was amazed by the power and comfort of the ride. It was like driving in a luxury vehicle, not a pickup. Unfortunatley when I was ready to purchase there was a waiting list for the Ford. I considered waiting but my old 1 ton was ready to go so I chose a Dodge 1ton Dually with the 6.7 cummins. There is about a $10,000 or better price difference between the Ford and the Dodge.
If you are looking for a 4x4 I would stick to the Ford or Dodge. They both have more ground clearance than the GM products.

I just did a search for "diesel" in the 'tow vehicles' forum and got 13,780 matches.
LOL
I don't really want to start another PSD bash on here. My recommendation would be to do a search.
My choices would be a Dodge Cummins first then a GM Duramax.........

CLHEJ: Do you self a favor and go test drive all three brands (maybe overnight) and see for yourself which one works best for you. I'm a Ford man thru & thru and just picked up a new F-450 "Lariat" this last Saturday. Like rmontez said, it's a very nice truck but it likes it's diesel.
The other two brands are nice too, I test drove them both, but for me the Ford was the way to go.
