I am thinking that RVing is still cheaper than vacationing in some resorts and hotels. Also, before I had an RV and would plan a vacation at the beach and reserve a hotel on line based on the description and photos it seemed that quite often when I got there it was nothing like I thought it would be. So, at least with an RV you know what your accomodations will be. You also save money not having to eat out all the time. There are many positives about RVing in my opinion. Look at people who fly to vacation spots, airline fares are not cheap. I will not give up RVing. Just have to look at my budget before I know where I can go.

When I fuel up it's always the same procedure. Pull up to the pump, insert the credit card, when the fuel stops put the cap on, lock the fuel door, get my receipt and head on out. Honestly, I rarely look at the cost of diesel. I work hard to enjoy my time out on the road, if it costs a few extra bucks that's ok - I'm making more this year than last, my house has appreciated nicely as have my investments. Life is good.

When I was a whole lot younger a wise man told me..........if you have to think about the cost of fuel you really can't afford to have a boat or an RV........

Can anyone say "tunnel vision"
What about $10/gallon, how much is too much? Everyone has a limit.

I rest my case.....
If $10 is too expensive for you then that's when you can no longer afford to have an RV....Each of us have different thresholds...

I believe the biggest problem with gas prices is that the increases are significant in a relatively short time period. Had prices continued to increase evenly over the last 20 years, it would not likely be news.

Seems, or is it seams, to me you all are missing a major point, that fuel cost is hitting other things also. As the price of fuel goes up, and it gone up so much now, that it is going to affect all of the other goods we consume. Look at the price of milk, eggs, meat, it is all going up very fast. Wages are not. Ground beef at 4.00 a lb.? That steak is 9.00 a lb.? Eggs are now 2.50 a doz.? Its not just the fuel, its what it affects and you will be seeing it in the coming mo. Can you all afford to spend 25% more, across the board, for everything you consume? Last week we paid 3.30 a gallon for propane, or is it Pro Paine, it really was the latter.
WE HAVE ALL DRANK THE KOOLAID LONG AGO AND NOW WE ARE REALLY GOING TO PAY
Just gezzers ramblin thoughts, not Miss Judy, and Miss Lady will get the custom dog food.

Ditto!!!

I have been thinking about this subject this morning after reading the other post in this forum about people cutting back on their RV'ing expenditures in order to compensate for the rising gas prices.

RV'ing is an expensive hobby, but it is one that we all have made a CHOICE in which to participate. I would imagine that most of us do have a good amount of discretionary income. How we choose to spend it is a matter of personal choice.

The fact is, gas isn't the only thing that is rising in price! Small choices in everyday spending could easily compensate for rising prices.

-Do you really need that Starbucks coffee everyday?
-Couldn't you use regular soap instead of that fancy bath wash product? Women, do you really look THAT much better using expensive cosmetics instead of that bought from Walgreens?
-Does your dog really need that expensive designer dog food from the specialty pet store? If generic food is good enough for you, isn't it good enough for your dog?
-Is absolut Vodka really that much better than Skol?

You get the idea - it is about your own priorities.

I will only chime in on the fact that yes Absolut vodka is much better than the cheap stuff, so while I continue to pay outrageous prices for fuel, once I get to my destination I will enjoy a premium cocktail or two.

8 years ago I earned about 110,000/yr and gas was $2.00/gallon, now I earn less than $45,000 and gas is about $3.30/gallon. Will someone explain how I'm better off today than 8 years ago?

This is the one place on the planet where consumers do not care how much fuel costs. Unbelievable.

Following this logic (?), you should not care how much campground fees are nor worry about rv parts and repairs. I mean, you got to have it, right?

This is post is as annoying as those comparing a gallon of gas to the price of a gallon of Pepto Bismol. Ridiculous.

I tried burning Pepto Bismol in my diesel. It didn't run very well, but it sure cut down on the BACKFIRING!
