Slightly off topic, but does anyone know of beaches in the southeast (AL, GA, FL, SC, NC) that are clearly posted that DO allow dogs?

To my knowledge dogs are not prohibited from going on the beach in the outer banks in North Carolina. We were there last year with our Dachshund and I did not see any signs saying he couldn't go out on the beach. There were no signs saying he COULD go on the beach, but there weren't any saying he COULDN'T either. I think the standard is they are allowed unless prohibited.

The main thing is to PICK UP AFTER YOUR PET. Yes we have a dog.

Ft DeSoto State Park near St Petersburg FL has a separate "Dog Beach". It's a really nice place to take your dog. Dogs run and play together and I really enjoyed it.

We love dogs -- it is (some) owners that don't give a d... for the rest of us that get my goat!

Looks like you don't like dogs? There are people out there who are responsible pet owners. To be honest, some kids are much more unruly and annoying than dogs. As long as the owner cleans up after their dog and the dog is well mannered I think they should be able to take a walk on the beach with their owner.

I meant that I enjoyed seeing the dogs running free and having a good time.
