Well, We got home this afternoon. Physically home but not where we would like our home to be.
Because of all the wildfires, the whole central valley of California smells like smoke. From about 20 miles south of Santa Nella to about 15 miles north of the Bakersfield side of the grapevine was the best air. The rest was not great to really bad in Redding where it was snowing ash.
After 2 1/2+ weeks, we went 2577 total miles(motorhome only). We spent $1455 in fuel to the fill up in Coalinga, and used 322.26 gallons by Coalinga and averaged out to a little more than 7 MPG to the Coalinga stop. I thought I should have gotten better mileage as I drove 55-57 mph the whole way and the MH trip computer showed most of the trip better than 7.5 mpg. And that was towing the Saturn the whole way. When I fill up the coach next time, I will get the totals better. I will figure out my best and worst later too. Barring the snafus during the trip, all in all it was a great vacation. At least in my opinion.
The best place we stayed by far was the Outdoor Resorts Pacific Beach in Newport Oregon. Awesome place looking over the beach/ocean at a light house out our front window. Worst place was the Santa Nella RV park. It was more like a trailer park and It got MUCH worse since the last time we stayed there 6 years ago. Never again on that place.

Now back to the normal grind until the next outing.

Sarah, as much fun as that sounds and as much as I would like to get out again, we will have to pass on the offer. We have too many summer projects to get done around the house since our big vacation is over. :-(
Looking forward to the next outing though.

Hey Sarah...just for kicks, what are the Holiday rates at Ventura RV Park? Just curious....have always wondered about that Park...I still have vivid memories of that Motorhome floating down the River/Drainage/Flood plane and getting stuck on the train tressel. What was that, about 20 years ago? OK Tom, I threw in that about trains and "tressels" so you could correct my spelling. Now get out and Ride your Green machine...lol Welcome back Mike!

Dwight,
The rates are $77.00 a night !!!!!OUCH!!!!! We probably won't be going there much anymore because it is so high now.
High gas, high food, high cmaping fees.........It's hard to have fun anymore.

Ill have to make it a point to Stay away from Ventura RV....although I do kinda like Emma Wood State Park right across the freeway. Of course you cant hardly get in there anymore...use to be first come-first serve, Oh Well.

Now Tom...thanks for looking that up, who knows, I may use that word once or twice more in the next 20 years....hehe. That scene of the floating MH was back in one of those years we had the overwhelming rain storms, the flood control/Flood plain that Ventura RV sits on made for some very interesting "new" boats.

Looking forward to your update Mac! Be safe, give PattyJ a hug from me, please, and I know you will enjoy the grandbabies when you get there!! Tom, we have an old John Deere in the backyard. You would need to be a midget though, so that won't work. Nevermind. LOL

Mike, heard from my cousin in Redding tonight. She is just sick, the 60th wedding anniversary (surprise) party is planned at a lake park near the marina (never been there, that is her description). Hopefully the fires will be all out and the air cleared up by then!! I believe there is an inside area she is using (whew!). We aren't taking the MH after all, gas being what it is we decided taking the truck made lots more sense since we don't have a tow vehicle. We're taking off Tuesday early am for the week, home Monday for a night or two then heading to Redding slowly, sightseeing. So I'll just wish everyone a happy 4th now. If anyone is in Bishop over the 4th, look us up - Browns Town on 395 by the Radio Station.
