Wow, talk about a trip down memory lane...I created a list of our NES rally attendees by year from 2004 to 2008...the names bring back some real images in the mind!
When we get the new NES Rally 2009 topic started I'll have to post the lists by year...some "history" lesson, or are they mistakes?... (and are we doomed to repeat them?)...
Back poolside after mowing the corporate lawn and cleaning the corporate pool this morning...did some paperwork and paid some bills, but that's all I feel like today...bowling tonite...woohoo!
Now when can we expect a visit from LocoMike this summer?
PS - pheasant has a name and has taken up permanent residence here...and my 30th anniversary visitor has left the caboose!
Dave (Holliston camper) and I already have the entire Indian Hollow campground reserved (and paid for) for the last weekend in May next year, so I don't think I'll be making a NY rally next Spring. Just doesn't make financial sense for us right now.

of course other option is maybe the spring rally could be at Indian Hollow...
We had talked about what a great place it is and so what with no sewer hookup... or whatever... and the price was good too...
maybe save Waubeeka for a Mid summer thing and if we get more people, then maybe get the places by the Pavilion.. not saying we can get the pavilion... but I noticed that area was just about empty this past weekend...
but thats just me tossing chit around...

As you know, we were on that row next to the field during the rally (original sight bit the big one so we moved lol). Would have been perfect for the mid summer because we were the only ones in that area. Only time I seen the pavilion being used was for the afternoon bingo game and the band/dance saturday night. The field had saturday afternoon horseshoe tournament. We seen them set up for a bonfire for saturday night but it must have been cancelled due to the storm that hit, because it was still there sunday morning.
But I must say, being right next to that wide open field, gives you one hell of a view of a lightning storm as it hits. Not that I would want one during the rally but it was awesome. lol
The bad thing about that row is, if we cannot have the large firepit, we would need to designate a spot for the community. Problem is on those two rows they do not allow the firepits to be moved. Making it hard to sit around seeing how they are tucked in a corner of the sites.

There is a campground which has an open area similar to the size of Waubeeka. It is along side a river, and we can get the entire place exclusively for about $8 per night/ per camper. It has bathrooms and shower facilities, a large fire pit along with individual small pits, large grills, and shaded private sites if you want privacy. It has large open areas to play horseshoes, bocci, softball or whatever. It does not have a quiet time, you make that rule yourself, you can have your fire go until dawn if you like. You can swim or tube in the river, or hike through miles of wilderness trails.
It does not have game rooms, so kids will be forced to play outside.
It does not have a pool, you will have to go into the crystal clear waters of the river to swim.
It does not have many lights, you will have to settle for seeing stars as you may have never seen them before.
You don't need to reserve, make a deposit, check in or out at an office. There are no neighbors, no seasonals, no speed bumps. It's centrally located for most of us.
The place is Indian Hollow, and to not take advantage of it would be a tragedy. So I'm throwing it out there. I'd like to know what people's concerns are regarding not having all the amenities so I might address them. My fear is that most people who don't think they can do this, simply never tried.
There is plenty of fresh water, you don't need to haul in full tanks. There is a drain to expose of gray water. There is limited electricity. The largest gatherings in the RV world (races, music festivals, fairs etc.) are almost always held in places without water/sewer/electric right at your site. So let's hear the concerns, but please, make it more than "It's not for us".

I have no concerns...except because of my usual 250 mile drive each way, i would like to get there early and leave late...not sure what that takes to stay Thursday till Monday...
Steve, I'm sure the campground that you're talking about is lovely. However, we prefer campgrounds with full hook ups and amenities. If dry camping is what someone else chooses to do, more power to them, but when we get to go away for the weekend and the craziness of our day-to-day life, we don't want to "rough" it. My idea of "roughing" it is no cable or dishwasher,LOL! That's why we own the camper that we do and camp in the types of campgrounds that we do. So if the rally is held at Indian River, we most likely will, respectfully, choose not to attend.
