Has anyone camped there? Are there any campsites that would accomodate our 27 foot trailer? We are looking for a state park or coe campground for a 2 day stopover on our way from Niagara Falls to our home in central New Jersey. Before Niagara Falls, we will be in the Finger Lakes area (Sampson SP). Thanks for any help!

I've never been there but here's a review from RV Park Reviews.

Thanks rltopey. That helps! Does anyone else have info? Does anyone know of other state park campgrounds around the half-way point (around Binghamton?)?

We have never stayed at Filmore Glen but the reviews seem pretty good. There is a great CG just east of Syracuse off I-90 - Green Lakes State Park. There are plenty of sites which would handle your camper, many with electric. There are two lakes which are beautiful, great fishing a nice hiking trail around both lakes and some great bike riding.

Good luck!

May I suggest checking to see if NYS Parks CG have any availabilities. Report on Syracuse tv news a couple weeks ago said that inquiries to state parks were up 16% from last year due to high fuel costs and folks staying closer to home.

www.reserveamerica.com is the only way to make a res at SP here in NY.

Hope this helps you out.

I stayed there for a weekend last June. Yes there are sites (most sites) that can very easily accomodate your camper. There are several nice waterfalls & a really nice hiking trail.
Its a very nice & quiet place to camp & the trails & waterfalls are within a short walk.

Chenango Valley SP is not too far off route 88 a few miles north of Binghamton. It's a nice park although we never camped there with an RV.

I second the Chenango State Park. We have stayed on several occasions and it is a very nice park with great hiking, a nice lake/swimming area and excellent sites. Our favorite are is the electric area down by the creek, you do need to us the ReserveAmerica website to make reservations...Fillmore Glenn in nice too. What is you intended path from Niagara Falls, that will give us an idea for further suggestions....

We live a short distance from Fillmore Glen SP. The park is small and as mentioned most sites do not have water or sewer. It is usually a quiet park. The hiking trails are nice, picnick areas and ball fields, waterfalls, and swimming in the creek - they have created a swim area. Water can be cold, even in summer. Nice quiet little park. Good luck, Mike

SNOBUNNIE -- Since you are familiar with Chenango SP .. can you suggest some good campsites there? Do you have any photos of the campsites? Both the OP (Marites) and I were wondering about this place (I had even "resurrected" an old thread of mine about it to try to gather more site info).. so if you can give us some more details, I'm sure she'd appreciate it as much as I would!

Thanks!!

(Marites.. hope you don't mind my butting in? )
