Ethanol production has a minuscule effect on the cost of food compared with skyrocketing energy costs and the costs of protecting our energy sources.

You bet it does... especially when the government is shifting subsidized farming of other crops like WHEAT for corn. Two years ago, a bag of flour was $17. It is now $50 because there is a shortage of farmers that will grow it. It's a great time to be a corn farmer.

Nope, plain and simple, the vast majority of the price increases are from energy costs period. Besides the fuel farmers use for growing food and fuel needed for the processers/distributers getting our food to the market lets remember fertilizers and pesticides are also made from oil.

Wanna hear something that will really blow ur mind? Right now the US Government pays farmers over 25 billion dollars’ annually to keep cropland out of production to help stabilize prices. The amount of land kept out of production is over 60 million acres! That’s the size of Ohio & Indiana combined! That land can contribute to our economy as well instead of sucking 25+ billion taxpayer dollars out of US every year. Ethanol needs to be expanded as fast as possible so this land can make money, not *cost* money!

Looking for any information available on Del Rey "Sky Lounge" and Kamp King slide-ins for preservation/restoration projects.

Rob, you are exactly correct. But, don't waste your breath. BiGG must be some top exec at an ethanol company. By the way, don't forget about your 8-10% reduction in fuel economy using this very expensive 10% ethanol fuel.

A) Ethanol is not nearly as expensive as fossil gasoline/diesel, not even close! and B) You guys keep forgetting The Clean Air Act which says we are much better off with a slight reduction in fuel economy (like 1-2%, *not* 8-10% like you are alleging) and being able to breath clean air instead of the alternative!

Switchgrass is one of the next major players in ethanol like wood & agricultural waste. All of these technologies have pilot plants planned/being built, or already running.

IOGEN is a cool website to check out

COSKATA, GM is a major shareholder in this company.

An interesting side note here, a recent USDA study shows that 30% of our current consumption can be met using forestry and agricultural waste alone, this is not including the planting of switchgrass (which will grow well anywhere), it’s just utilizing current waste.

You’ve only posted that same ‘ol snooze-a-thon article about a zillion times and it’s still just as much of a snooze-a-thon as the first time you posted it! I have a suggestion; get your information from somebody that actually has a clue instead of a clueless wonder writing an article in Rolling Stone about something he knows very, very little about!

Trillions of dollars are being invested by major players who actually have a clue around the world and you keep posting the same clueless wonder = YAWN!
