I just installed a new lcd overhead and was surprised that when the wall mount was attached to the back of the tv it did not attach to the tv chassis only the plastic back of the television! needless to say it wobbles back and forth and is clearly not capable of withstanding the abuse of traveling down the road. the panasonic plasma i have in my house is extremely solid...maybe they are just making them cheaper these days so everyone will blow their 600 dollar rebate check on one? it is a sharp 32" lcd purchased from walmart.
the question is, what tv have you guys installed that is stable enough to travel down the road...cant afford to have a 30# tv fall on my head while driving.

You bring up a very important issue. Like all things, all LCD TV's are not created equal. Not only do the cheaper ones have low tru resolution and even though they say "1080P compatible" the LCD is not capable of actually displaying that resolution. The cheaper units only have 1366 x 768 resultion whereas you need 1920 X 1080 to actually display 1080P at full resolution. Like most things these days there is a lot of dishonesty in advertising and you often get what you pay for or worse you don't get what you paid for!
Also some have a very robust mounting arrangement and frame. Others do not. Country Coach has an option for a fold down 32" TV that folds down from the ceiling. Tomorrow I'm calling them to check on the mount and also which TV they are using. I'm quite sure the Country Coach chose and tested a TV that has a robust mounting arrangement. I'll report back here when I find out which one.

Make sure the correct mounting plate and screws are used. I helped mount several for the school, they weren't high dollar sets and they were all secure, and two in motorhomes which were secure.

If you want to see the mount I had made you can view it HERE
It is 1/8" steel and holds it pretty good.

There was a strap with a plastic click fastner in our closet that held two folding chairs. We had long since quit hauling the chairs as they were never used. When I replaced the 13" BR TV with a 20" LCD on an articulating wall mount, I used the strap from the closet and screwed it to the studs. I use some small pieces of bubble wrap under the strap. When we travel I just fold the TV back against the wall and click the strap around it with the bubble wrap protecting the TV from the strap. Has worked really well for a year and a half now.
