I was just watching the new this morning and Irans minister is saying $200 a barrel of oil is comming here in the near future. Other analysts are saying that were on are way to $300 a barrel. They are now saying we could be seeing $2.50 a Litre by next year or in 2 years 2010.So that would be around $9.50 a gallon and if disel stays higher now then gas the it will be over $10 a gallon.
This is really disturbing to me, I finally pick of a nice 8.1L chevy and a 5th wheel to go out more camping with my family and with the cost of gas I dont think at the above price I can afford to go camping at that. I find this very depressing.
If it goes to this price just imagine whats gonna happen to everything else. Food is going to skyrocket, air fare will rise, taxis, just about everything will rise. People wont be able to afford to get to work, this could cause a major recession, except of course for the oil companys who are making 3-4 billion profit each quarter.
Will you still be going camping at $10 a gallon?
Then whats going to happen in 4 years from now $15 a gallon?

You know, as others have said, we drew a circle around where we live in Ga, about 100 miles in Dia. For now, we'll stay within that circle. If we have to close the gap we will. There are lots of campgrounds in the circle and some are within 25 miles. We love to camp, so we cut back on other things like cable and long distance calling, eating out, lots of money saved for camping with those cutbacks. Cut back on what you really dont need and you'll be surprised at what you save.
Also you might start bugging your politicians and get them to agree to drill for our own oil in North America and Canada. The Middle East, and other oil laden countries are enjoying our stupidity and making Billions while we sit on our own.

Price of fuel will kill my camping when I no longer value the quality family time I get when camping with my two young ones. Much better than staying at home watching TV or playing video games. I'll sacrafice my DirecTV and internet subscriptions before I'll stop camping.
As someone else mentioned. I'll stay a little closer to home but for me living in the Central Valley of California.. I can go 100 miles west and be at the coast or 100 miles east and be in the Sierra foothills. Dozzens of places to camp and explore with the family.

Well maybe i can go camping closer to home, but for vacation we cant afford to all fly to mexico or cuba again, so we go to Christina Lake for like the last 5 years, in BC which is around 700km from us and this is like a ritual for us alot of family goes and just sad we might have to give that up.It is so beuitiful there the lake is amazing, there is nothing in Alberta like that.

I look at it this way.. The fuel I use for taking a vacation is something planned anyway and a little more for fuel on a vacation is nothing compared to the fuel I use daily getting back and forth to work so I think the camping will continue, although maybe more trips closer to home but I would rather stop the daily drive then the vacation drive...

We won't be giving up our trailer or TV, we'll just be staying closer to home instead of taking longer trips. Who knows what the future will hold? We're headed out next week for an 8 day trip and we're going to enjoy the heck out of it and not worry about the prices at the fuel pump. We need the time away and can afford it so there are no worries.

We have two trips to Florida planned this year but not with the TT. Our van is only used for long trips and I don't really care if gas goes up since I use my mountain bike or motorcycle for local use and my wife uses our Scion xB.
