If it stays where it is.....we will be doing less and less trips with the TT.

If it climbs to $5 the same will continue and we may even do away with the TT or just leave it somewhere from year to year as a destination.

If it goes as some predict to 8 to 10 per gallon.... were done. As it is the TV is just that since gas was in the mid $3 range. Back to tent camping or a small PUP and even then travels would be less.

I guess the chevy tracker that now as 104K will be going and going until the fenders fall off.

Seriously considering a smart for two car (for me) or a yaris as another vehicle to do all of our errands. Sorry cannot ride a motorcycle to work..... TV may become dust....

What a shame.

I guess horseshoes may be fun

By the time it gets to $200.00 a barrel. It won't matter anyway. No one will be working, and no one will be buying it.

They want drill in Alaska and until they get what they want we are going to pay. They will run this country into ground for that oil they don't care about anything else. Let the big boys play or you pay. I don't know when or if I will have to give up my truck and trailer. Right now I'm blessed with enough money to continue.

It isn't going to kill my camping.

Look to Europe and see how they do it. Lots of campers over there and they have been paying more than we do for gas now all along.

Ultra light TTs', pop-ups pulled by sedans and motorhomes with small diesel and gas engines. You don't need an eight liter engine to go camping.

It wont... Ever. The quality family time is worth more than the price of fuel. To me, it just isn't THAT bad. I recognize the issue though and drive my ricemobile everywhere, but that is really all that I have changed. To be honest, that is just on principle. Screw them, they are getting as little of my money as possible for daily driving. Motorcycle and Accord.

Well maybe i can go camping closer to home, but for vacation we cant afford to all fly to mexico or cuba again, so we go to Christina Lake for like the last 5 years, in BC which is around 700km from us and this is like a ritual for us alot of family goes and just sad we might have to give that up.It is so beuitiful there the lake is amazing, there is nothing in Alberta like that.

So, the way I see it, (I'm converting to US units), you have about 870 miles round trip.

Assuming 15mpg, you said, diesel, right? That's about 58 gallons.

At $4/gallon, that's $232. At $10/gallon, that's $580. That's a difference of $348.

You are comparing this to flying a family somewhere and the hotel/condo costs on top of that. You couldn't fly one person to Mexico for $348. The way airfare is going up, it would probably cost more than $580/person.

What exactly is the problem?

As compared to the cost of flying anywhere, which people don't see to want to cut back any, take that cost and apply it to the cost of gas or diesel to power a tow vehicle, and it's generally still cheaper to go RVing. If it's within 1500 miles of where I live, and that's a HUGE circle, I'll still be taking my truck and 5er, and I don't care what the price of fuel is. I budget for vacation time just like I budget for anything else. But as a previous post said, by the time it hits $200 a barrel, nobody will be buying, so what difference does it make? If worst comes to worst, I turn my 5er into my driveway "man cave" and I enjoy myself appropriately!
