You will find the Jeep Liberty to be a very tow friendly vehicle. You will need a base plate for the jeep. Lights added to the rear of the jeep and your tow bar. I added a supplemental braking system. Mine tows like a dream.

What year is the Liberty? I have an '08 and it's a great toad. I bought the base plates through Tow Bars unlimited (www.towbarsunlimited.com) and saved a lot of money. For lights I installed the extra bulb kit in the taillights.
I went with a Demco base plate, it looked like the easiest to install (It took 8 hours). I have the Demco Amuminator tow bar which I picked up used for $200.
For towing the '08 is a little different from the prior years. It doesn't have a steering lock so there isn't a need for the key in the ignition.
Ihe drill for getting the transfer case into neutral is a little funky where you have to use a ballpoint pen to press on a switch to disengage it, but it works.

We tow a 2008 Jeep Liberty -- very tow friendly.

You will need the tow-bar / base plates for the Liberty / wiring harness for the toad lights / and some type of supplemental braking system. I use the Brakemaster system -- the brake cylinder (that applies the liberty's brakes) attaches to a custom bracket under the drivers seat.

The answer to your question is Yes you can tow it. As others have mentioned you will need a braking system. Make sure if you get the box style that it will fit your floor pan on driver's side! Do the research, shop around and then what fits your needs is the best for you.
