I have a question? Has anyone had success recently selling an RV? If so, what is your advice?

My husband and I have a Dolphin Motorhome and a Prowler Camper. We had the Prowler and thought it would be nice to have a MH.We got the Dolphin and it is really nice. However, for some reason we cannot part with the Prowler. Don't know if it is for sentimental reasons or what. We have listed the Dolphin everywhere we can think and no results. We have lowered the price - nothing! We have it listed on Good Sam and not getting any inquires.

Any good ideas?

People are hanging on to their money for first priority things. That's just the sign of the times.

RV manufacturers and dealers would also like the answer to this question.

A friend of mine Winters at Foothills in Yuma and bought a late model 38' DP from one of the bigger Motorhome lots about a month ago. He didn't trade his older MH and flew back last week to bring it back up here. The sales person he bought from said his purchase a month ago was the last sale they had made at that lot. That is grim. It is definately a buyers market. He said he got a VERY good price on the DP.

During the past two weeks we have traveled from Spokane to Minnesota. I have noticed there far fewer RV's on the road and the campgrounds less than a quarter full. There were only two exceptions in the Black Hills area.

RV manufacturer sales are generally off at least 30% and most do not predict a quick turn-around. We are going to visit Winnebago Monday and it should be interesting to see what is happening there.

These are the times to buy, not sell. If you can hold on to your rig, you should.

It is all in the price. I could sell my luxury SUV for 30% bellow KBB value, but I decided to keep it for the price.

It probably won't help that Dolphin was made by National, which has recently filed for bankruptcy.

I would be leary of any consignment arrangements - last year we saw an RV dealer's service guy appear to cook a Bounder's electrical system when attempting to recharge a battery. It was a consignment deal - the poor owner (a widow, from what I understand) is probably wondering why that unit still hasn't sold yet.

Good luck.....

I have been looking for some deals on motorhomes. There are still tons of people who think their '89 Flair with Delamination is worth $20000.

It seems as if the dealers have the best deals, the private sellers think that their motorhomes are worth above book value for some reason.

Oh well, let em sit.
