Michelin LTX MS.
Get them at Costco, graet price free rotation and balancing for as long as you have them and Nitrogen too if you care about that.

Load Range E Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo

Have these on my 2500HD. Got about 23,000 miles on them and the tread is 80% shot. They are very quiet and have great traction but they do not last. I won't be buying them again.

I put 265's on my Suburban, same as yours but an '01. The taller tires make the 4.10 rear an effective 3.92 rear, still plenty to tow our 10,000 GVWR trailer, but did notice it downshifts a little earlier on hills. I also went with Amercian Racing 16x8 wheels, for the reasons mentioned by Ben, BigToe and others above. I offroad at the beach and wanted a little more ground clearance that the 265's provided. I also have the Bridgestone Dueller Revos for the same reason.

Note that the tires look "beefier" mainly because of the rims. The 8" AR-23's are 1.5" wider than the stock rims, and to avoid clearance issues, they retain the stock offset. This means that the whole 1.5" was added to the outside of the wheel, pushing them out farther from the truck and increasing the track by 3". Definitely helps the stability, but you're also increasing unsprung weight. This set up is a good compromise for me of hiway and sand performance.

Since you are mainly on the hiway, I would stay stock size and consider the Bridgestone Duellers, NOT the Revos...the regular Duellers have a hiway tread pattern, not the aggressive blocking that the Revos' have.

If you do decide to go 265's, do yourself a favor and get the right sized wheels.

Thaks for all the tips. I think I'll stay with the stock rims and stock size tire. 2 friends recommended the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO (Load Range E are about $160 each at Tire Rack).

These look okay and are cheap at $112 each and a $50 rebate.

Can the 'E' rated LT Generals really have a 60,000 mi treadlife warranty, or am I missing something?

Also, any opinions on white letters in or out?

I'm getting closer to needing tires! A friend just put these on a 1/2 TON 2WD GMC, but they come in Load Range E. Does anyone know anything about them? It says they're supposed to improve gas mileage!?!

Never been a big fan of Generals....ran Michelins exclusively for years but was disappointed in a set of LTX/MS that I had on the burb before I went to the 265 size with new rims (I know I'm in the minority here, many love the Michelin LTX/MS). Best tire made today for the $$ is Bridgestone IMO.

Sometimes one really wonders if people by things for looks or actual use. So many do the "Go ahead with the 265's. You will not be disappointed with the looks and you do not limit yourself due to weights, etc. A little more $$ to purchase them, but I've always thought the the 245's just didn't belong and they looked goofy on those trucks. The 265's do amazing things for the appearance", May they should buy a dump truck, 'cause they come with big tires. If 245/75/16 size tires didn't cut the mustard because they couldn't hold the weight or tow what the truck was intended for, then GM would have put bigger ones on there. Browns 329 wants a replacement tire to do the job, he's not looking to impress anyone.
