We have a Winnie Aspect on a f-450 and are looking for a good unit to tow for extended travel. Don't want to use a dolly and would like to avoid transmission modifications and wife needs automatic. I am a big guy and need to consider ease of getting in and out so a more upright and less sporty car is a better choice. Would like to get good mileage when driving solo in toad (above 30 mpg). any suggestions?

Don is 6', 280#, doesn't bend well, and has knee problems - he loves our 2006 Saturn VUE. Maybe doesn't quite get 30 mpg - more like 28, probably - but we liked it so well that I bought a 2008 VUE last year and like it very much, too. You just hook up, put it in neutral, leave key in on position and go. It is recommended that you start and run it thru the gears about every 300 miles or so but since that is our usual travel day, it is no problem.

Just went through that and my final 3 were Ford Edge, Saturn Vue and Jeep Liberty.
We went with the Jeep. I did like the room in the Edge but didn't want to spend that much. The Vue and the Liberty was pretty close in weight, size and cost.

The new Malibu is quite roomie, gets good MPH, and easy to setup for towing, I had a switch installed on the dash so I don't have to remove the fuse. Works very well. The HHR and Cobalt are also towable as an automatic and both get good MPH.

Happy RVing

We just got the HHR. Hubby is going to have a switch put in to avoid pulling the fuse. We had a Ford Taurus wagon with the axle release. The HHR is much easier. I have had double knee replacement and the HHR is nice as you sit more upright in it....Betty

I have a 24' Class C motor home and need a toad. It must be automatic. Besides your suggestions above, how do I know which ones can be 4 on the road?

Who do I buy the tow equipment from and who do I get to install it, etc. Which equipment would be easiest to use by a 5'4 girl who doesn't have a clue? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Clueless in Pahrump!

We have the HHR, and stopped pulling that #8 ACC fuse...didn't see the need so long as you don't pull for more than 5-6 hrs, and turn off the radio.
