We just bought a Yzmzhz Zuma scooter and I was wondering how everyone transport theres.
Is there something you can put in the receiver?
By the way these are almost sold out. Scooters and street legal motorcycles are selling like mad. We missed one scooter by an hour and then bought the last one from another dealer.

I wish I had bought one a short time ago. We were in an CG and it was covered up in this class of bikes. I did check on some receiver scooter racks and they were not that expensive. They seem to be a chore to get the scooter based on what I saw online. I did not know they weighted that much. I was looking at a Honda. A nice 15 year bike was over $2000.

We have a carrier with ramps that fits into the hitch receiver. I came with the wife's mobility scooter. I seriously doubt it could be adapted to another make as ours folds up very compact. I don't see why loading ramps couldn't be added to one of those hitch carriers that people use for generators, coolers etc.

Lots out there. Check eBay. Trick is, the rack can be fairly high, and the ramp steep. Need to roll it on, then strap it down. Definite learning curve.

I got an aluminum carrier off ebay for about $100. Weighs 40 lbs, installs on a regular 2" hitch. You can put it on yourself. The ramp is steep, but if I can do it, you can do it. It's one run-and-heave. Seen 'em with a longer ramp added. That's good I guess, if you have the extra room to put it on - but actually takes more muscle. Really, all you have to be able to do is get the front wheel into the first rung of the carrier. After that, it won't come down without the same amount of effort. Trick is guiding it the rest of the way, since you can't see through the faring on mine.
FWIW, I have seldom even had the opp to load by myself. There's always somebody around with a bike of their own who jumps in without being asked.

How big and heavy is the scooter. If you can lift it (even if it takes two), I'd say you could get the pieces of metal and have a shop bolt or weld up something simple.
The basic parts would be a tray just long enough for the bike, bolted or welded to a stinger which slips into the receiver. The stinger should be long enough to allow the tray to be centered such that there are points on either side at the stinger's location to attach ties - from fore and aft.
As a start, and to get some kind of idea what I'm talking about, look at the pictures which you can get to from the link in my signature. I can give you more information and suggestions on this.
p.s. The carrier I have is an electric lift. The scooter is loaded at the ground (no ramp), tied down, and then lifted up. The two bars on either side in the first two pictures (disregard the Falcon 2 car towbar - I just didn't remove it when I inserted the bars to take the pictures.) are inserted after the bike is loaded and lifted. The tray is raised just above the bars a bit and then the bars are inserted and the tray lowered so as to rest on the bars. Great stability with that. Again, I have lots more information.

We have two Honda Ruckus scooters (outstanding) and a golf cart. Sometimes we take the cart, sometimes we take the scooters. Our tandem tow gives us a bunch of options.

Try versahaul.com, I used one of these to tow my two scooters.

I have been thinking about getting scooters, and really like the look of the 125cc Zuma. My concern is that at 300 lbs I am too heavy for it. Any experiences that would help my decision?
