First pick up one of these relay socket or two of these single relay socket and two of these 30 amp relay . There will be two smaller gauge wires that will be used for the control of the relay (normally black and yellow or blue). The black wires will tie to ground and the blue or yellow will connect to the wire (make sure you cut the wire that goes to the bulbs) for high or low beams. The high current leads will be red, white, and normally white (only two will be used). Tie the red leads together through at least a 30 amp auto-resetting circuit breaker. The other lead which has to be the normally open contact of the relay will go to the headlights (the wire you cut above). When i did mine i put in new 12 gauge wire from the relays to the headlamp connectors.

I have made up a couple of those systems over the years and I used 12ga wire from battery to relay and relay to headlight and headlight to ground. I took apart the socket for the light bulbs and removed the existing wires and replaced them with the 12ga. You would probably get just as good a result if you just butt spliced the 12ga to a short piece of the original wire out of the bulb plug.
