I've never owned a Dodge truck but will be looking at them since I'm in the market for a 1 ton truck with DRW. My question is to anyone who owns a Dodge 1 ton DRW. I talked with a guy a few days ago who is really sold on the Dodge as a tow vehicle. He currently has one and says that he gets 12 to 13 MPG pulling a 15,000lb trailer at 70 MPH. I currently have a 3/4 ton GMC Durmax and get 11.7 pulling my 13,000lb fiver at 60 MPH. I get 12.5 MPG at 55 MPH. Most Ford drivers that I talk to are getting 8 MPG or less. Is this guy being straight with me about his mileage with his Dodge. Dodge owners, let me have the straigh scoop.

Thanks!

12-13 pulling 15K is possible BUT highly unlikely at 70MPH. At 60-62 more likely! We are talking about a Cummins Diesel...right? If it is 4wd, even less likely.

well i used to have a dodge 2500 4x4 six speed manual, around town i got 18... towing i got under 10, with a 30 foot toyhauler.. now i have a 40 foot 5er and i could go faster up any hill, and got 9 mpg last trip, due to all the hills... i think my chevy gets better milage, but only because of the tranny imo, i have a friend with the dodge 6 speed auto and he got 12 on the same trip, but my trailer is 10 feet longer and probaly 3k more in weight... we did 50-65 the whole trip

If it is a brand new Dodge I do not think so, as they do not get the mileage of the ones before the particle filter models.

I get 10.5-12 mpg towing with the rig in my signature; about 18 mpg unloaded on the highway. I usually keep my speed 55-62 mph whether towing or unloaded.

I have a 2006 Dodge 3500 quad cab DRW. It has 14000 miles on it. I get 13 mpg towing a 35 ft. 12000 pound 5th wheel I don't tow over 60 mph as my tires are rated at 65 mph. Running without my trailer I get 16.5 mpg. It has the 5.9 Cummins and automatic transmission. It is a great truck.

Here's mine... Running along the LA-TX coast 65-70mph I average 11-12mpg pulling the 10+K 5er. I've been averaging 18-19 mpg (HC)unloaded with a 165 mile one way trip in a fillup. I always fillup when she gets to 1/2 tank.

I get about 12-14 mpg. but I got a truck camper that weighs about 4500lbs. and sits in the truck bed so no towing involved, just added weight but it does catch a lot of wind sitting so high. I usually run around 65 mph to keep my rpms 2k or lower. Empty on the highway I'll get about 17-19mpg if I drive conservatively.

Well my 2008 (Mega 4x4 6speed auto) averages about 16 mpg mixed driving and as much as 18 on a trip at 75 mph.

I got 12.5 mpg on my first towing trip with a small 5000 lb trailer.

I was with my brother (2007 QC 4x4 CTD Manual Tranny) when he got 22.5 mpg unloaded in mixed driving. He got 17 mpg towing his 5000 lb trailer to Myrtle Beach last year.

Much better milage than mine.

The 06's and 07's get grea milage. Dodge is also going out with a new flash for milage is a report on one forum.
