My wife mentioned that she read somewhere that a wise investment might would be a surge guard (protector) for our TT. Who has one and is it necessary. How much do they cost? Any info would help.
Thanks

Cheaper to purchase a Surge Guard (probably less than $150) that it is to replace most of the major components in your TT...
One of those things that you may never need but when something does happen you'll be glad you did have it...

I lost TV, Sat. reciever, VCR and more from a power surge. I have a 30 amp to sell that I only used for a short time in my 5th wheel. I just moved up to a 50 amp MH. You can email me if you like. Good protection will cost about $400.

I am taking a 6 month old 30 amp hardwired surge this weekend because I am converting to 50 amps and putting in a 50 amp hardwired surgeguard which I will sell.

Small basic portable Surge Guard start at around $79 and go up from there depending on how much protection you feel you need.

Yep, we've been using the basic 30amp ever since we've been camping starting with our PUP. I wouldn't hookup without a surge protector in place.

We were at a campground last weekend that had my SurgeGuard tripping on high voltage, i.e. greater than 132 volts. I checked with the voltmeter. No idea what high voltage would do to the electronics, but I'd rather not find out the hard way.
The campground management told me that they had rewired the place over the winter and added some transformers due to complaints about low voltage, which can burn out air conditioners.
