I have to say I have never stayed at a KOA and after I got a call from mys sister I will never stay at a KOA and will do all I can to get others to do the same. My sister and her husband booked at this KOA in Wade, NC and got a late start, getting in around 12:30 PM very late an tired. They have a very nice pop-up so this is no rag tag thing. So they had to setup purely in the dark and did it as neatly as possible. They only left a few totes out under one bed end and a small circular dog pin. They slept in pretty late and when the got up and went out to finish setting up they were greeted by an employee to tell them "cleanup" their site it looked shabby. Well my brother-in-law was taken back. They felt it was not bad, not quite in order but understandably not packed away. At this point the manager came over and said they felt the site was cluttered and did not spaek well for KOA. They packed up and left. I am sure we all have pulled in late and not fully setup, etc.. I am appauled they were "in my mind" forced out because they had a pop-up. Make up your own mind but I will never go to a KOA....

I'm not a KOA customer for various reasons. That aside, I would never pull into a campground at 12:30 at night. I'd dry camp before disturbing neighbors at that hour. But... that's just me.

We have stayed at several KOA's and have found that some are run very professional, then there are the others that you wonder if the owners ever step foot at the campground.
One was owned by corporate. One had feral cats everywhere, so much so that you could not eat outside. Another the folks were so friendly they even dropped off goodie bags for each of our children just after check in. Another we checked in late and they had a info packet with our name on it and all info waiting at the night check in and we departed early the next day and never met anyone.
Who knows, maybe they had just had a surprise inspection and were found to have a messy campground, and a hard nosed owner was pushing everyone.
You just never know who may have kicked their dog that day.
Sorry your sister had a problem. At least one would bet that their next campsite will be more enjoyable.

If you had a rude manager at a Mc Donald's would you never eat at any of the other thousands of McDonald's out there? Do what you want, it may make me getting a reservation easier.

NCH,
Actually I do not eat at McDonalds. But There are KOA's here in NY as well, although I have never camped at one, we visited one just to get an idea and they were rude to us as well. Not to say KOA is holding the torch for rudness I have been to others that were equally as rude. So please stay at all the KOA's and eat at every McDonalds you wish. I voiced my opinion as did you. Happy Camping.

We have stayed 3 times in the Wade KOA (also listed as Fayetteville) on our way to Florida. In each instance we have been treated very well by staff - on at least one occasion, the Camp Host helped us fix a problem, saving a trip to the RV shop. This level of service is not always true at all KOA's, but we have been pleased with our stays in Wade. Sounds like management had a bad day!
