On the last trip, my fuel station kept popping the fuse when I started the fuel pump. I went through 3 before I gave up and siphoned the gas out.

But I have another trip after the 4th of July craziness is over, so I need to fix this. Since I am NOT mechanically inclined, (my idea of fixing something is to use a bigger hammer )I figure, I need some advice.

My thought is that the fuel pump is blowing fuses because its working too hard. Why? Dirty fuel filter? If so, how do I change it? I don't have any manuals, they disappeared when the DH became an ex.

I would love some detailed advice with simple instructions so I can fix this before next Monday.

Thank YOU!

Not seeing how the fuse is blowing, if it's blowing when the switch is turned on, of if blows after a few minuets of operation. If it is blowing with in a few seconds of being turned on, you might want to invest in a longer hose, with a pump bulb on the end.

The fuel pump on my Raptor is doing the same thing; as soon as I turn on the pump to start pumping gas it blows the fuse. Called the manufacturer and they stated that it sounds like a short inside the pump, I could either send it in and pay for repair or buy a new pump. I decided to check the wiring and verified there was no wire issue from the pump to the battery causing the short so for mine I guess I will be sending it in or replacing it.

I had the same issue last year. Problem was the gears in the pump were made slightly to big and over time they would bind up against the pump housing. Replaced gears and o-ring seal in about ten minutes, very easy and all good. This was a very common problem on a few different TH's in the past.

Jeff, what kind of fuel pump do you have? Where the gears easy to find? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. It’s worth trying this fix especially if it fixes the issue and it saves me some money, it would be nice to finally get to the gas in my trailer.

Hey, my Raptor did the same thing. But only one time so far. Gonna keep my eye on it. Any idea where the pump is, internal or external?

Gears in the pump.
Lots and lots of trailers had issues a couple of years ago, 2006, and the pump manufacture had made the gears out of the wrong material which caused the gears to swell when put in gas.

I replaced my gears and issue went away.

Fuse blows when I turn on the fuel pump switch. Fuse also turns off monitor panel. Not sure why they wired it that way. Disconnected wires at pump and replaced fuse and monitor panel is working. Thinking it may be the gears as some other are saying and am waiting to see if WW well take it in and fix it. If not I'm going ask them to send me the gears and I'll do myself and hopefully that will do it.

Courtland,
Most of us have a PBL Industries FP12 pump. PBL is now Graco and the part numbers stayed the same. I went to Simi RV and they had the kit.
Think it was less than 20$. Your pump should have a data plate with part numbers on it.
