I think most of the issues with the gears happened right out of the box, not after years of use.

My pump started blowing fuses after three years of use. WW replaced the gears, but that didn't fix it. After they replaced the pump, they reminded me to shut off the pump timer after I'm done using it (instead of just letting the timer run itself down). They said that the pump is cooled by the fuel flow and that it overheats if it's turned on and not in use.

So I think I may have lead to my pump's demise.

Thanks for all of your responses! Does this sound like a gear issue?

It is a Holly fuel pump according to the sticker. I've been using it with no problems for 2.5 years, but now what happens is:
- I hit the timer switch (no problem)
- I go outside and flip the toggle for the fuel pump - that's when the fuse goes!

I'm not sure how to open it up or take it out or what exactly I'm looking for. Is there a site with diagrams and simple directions? I need pictures - what can I say.

Thanks again!

After 2.5 years of use, I don't think it is your gears.
I think you have a short somewhere or maybe the pump is just wore out?
If it works until gas starts flowing, you may have a fuel filter clogged and is causing the pump to work too hard.

Where do you find your fuel pump fuse? Fortunately, I have not had to look for it...... but inquiring minds need to know

When you come in the door, the corner entertainment center is on your right. The fuse panel is the black door under the t.v. on the floor near the step.

Mine is at the main panel in the exterior cubby with the power cord. The fuse on mine also feeds my control panel. So when I turn on the pump, the pump would stop and my panel would go out.

I had the same issue last year. Problem was the gears in the pump were made slightly to big and over time they would bind up against the pump housing. Replaced gears and o-ring seal in about ten minutes, very easy and all good. This was a very common problem on a few different TH's in the past.

Jeff

Had the exact same thing happen too. Everyone I know who's had the fuse blowing issue has had the same thing.

Well...My '06 - FS2300 fuel pump finally locked up popping the fuse. Compared to most of you I don't move much gas through the tank as I use my gas tank primarily for a small inflatable boat 6-gal. outboard motor tank. I removed the pump and changed out the gear set and O-ring. I also upped the intake hose to 1/2" for better flow, repainted the pump, bracket, and underside of trailer. The pump and underside had some surface rust due to frequent camping on the ocean in Baja. BTW...the kit was available at an RV store in San Diego area for $40. The kit from a Graco parts dist. in Org. Co. was $15. Here is a photo of the finished product.
