Chemicals work on the odor.... Many of them are very bad for the enviorment as well and really need to not be flushed into a sewer system.

Products such as Odorlos are biologicals, they break down the "Stuff" making it easier to dump the tank.

They actually IMPROVE septic tank action and are things already found in nature.
According to the Oregon Registered Santation Engineer I worked with on a private installation formaldehyde is NOT harmful to septic systems. It gets a bad rap when everyone dumps at the same time, like a Sunday afternoon when most everyone heads home. This overwhelms the system which is what causes the problems. Also a lot of the so called "non-formaldahyde" formulas break down into formaldehyde in the septic system anyway.

Sounds like the dreaded "Poop Pyramid". Feared by many, respected by all. Try some calgon followed by using a flushing wand.

Some questions:

Does this unit have a display panel showing the tank levels? If so what do they say?

Is the trap door at the bottom of the bowel opening in the toilet? My MIL and FIL's trap door was stuck shut. Giving the impression that there is something wrong with black tank. A jab with long handled tool fixed this..

If you have left the tank valves open for a period of time, you have the dreaded Pyramid... And we ain't taking Egyptian...

Good luck and keep us posted!!!

We have not yet started to fix it, campsite was full with the holiday weekend did not want to ruin anyones weekend the sewer smell when we unplug it. Thought we would get to it this week. I will let you know when we have the problem fixed at least now we know how to avoid problem in the future.

Basic grade school knowledge needs to be applied here. "If it aint liquid, it will not flow". This means the contents of the black holding tank, except for glaciers of course.

Please consult with the owner of the campground before you do anything. He/She may have everything you need to fix this along with the expertise. Plus you do not want to make a mess in his campground.

Like a previous post said I'd try to pump out as much as you can (porta potty service) before you try to unclog. Good Luck!!!!!!
