Wow! Great deal. Good for you! I haven't heard of anything like this before. Anyone else? Is this common? Should I consider asking the dealer for this before negating the service completely?

I am being offered the same kind of deal. 7 year all covered deal and if I never put in a claim I get the purchase price refunded.

It really made me think about taking the plunge (I ALWAYS 'self insure') but we pick up the unit on Thursday and I think we've decided to decline it.

I don't know if it's common and I cannot find out anything about the company that provides the coverage and (the different company) that provides the refund. I guess it works because it's 7 years (so they hold my money that long), it's original owner only (and many people will sell and transfer the warranty), it's a rebate thing (and many people will forget), and it's a gamble... so many people may hit the first $500 repair and just take the money and leave the balance for the company...

The thing that gets me is that it's not a manufacturers warranty and the third parties involved might just disappear in 7 years...

depends on the cost i guess, the one offered to us was 3700.00 . for 3700.00 i could replace my appliances with new ones and probably still have money in the bank afterward. really comes down to your comfortable level of "risk" for me it was a waste of money as most items i ( or anyone ) can fix myself with some internet searching and basic tools. if it was me i would let it ride with the warranty it comes with and put the money toward the new TV you guys mentioned in another thread.
