What do you think of it? We are scheduled to arrive in 2 weeks. Concerned about the cost at $81 per night on the premier sites on the sound. Were just offered a 20% discount off the non-premier sits...for a final cost of $60 per night.

We will be there on the 14th. The price did bother me, the highest I have ever paid, but it had good reviews. I just called tonight to confirm my arrival and they cant even tell me my site#, troubling. The cable tv charge is also petty so I brought the dish if I have clear line of site Ill use that instead. Otherwise we are excited as we have never been to the outer banks before and are looking forward to exploring. Any tips, restaraunts etc., would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello all! Had a good day today. My family and I went to the NC Aquarium and spent most of the day! Last night we went to the Mad Crabber located in near Avon and had the best Alaskan Snow Crab legs I've ever had! My wife really liked her Mahi-Mahi aka Dolphin. The kids had super large portions of both hot dogs and chicken tenders lol. This is our first "RV" trip to the OBX. But we have come dozens of times before and rented a house. If you are concerned about the cost ....well it is very cheap for what you get. To rent a decent place around here for a week you are looking for $2000 or so. Crabbypatty, you should have a clear line of sight for the TV dish from any site that I've seen here. We opted not for the cable TV but I hooked up the line anyways. Security came and gave my wife a "friendly reminder" to pay for it. I went back and paid for 6 nights of cable at $3 a pop. If you are looking for a real nice place to eat I recommend Bass Night LoneCedar. I believe it is owned by the govenor of NC and has EXCELLENT food. It is located on HWY 64 W going towards Pirates Cove on the left, before the bridge. I'm sure we will be going there at least one time on this trip.

Sure hope you guys have a nice stay there, great place just pricey. Just down the road going north on the left is a small good pizzo place "Micheals?" and south on H-12 toward Avon on your right is a good rest. with I think reasonable prices is Dolphin Den.
This year I'm planning to going to Frisco Woods Campground in Frisco next Thursday for a week I hope.

Marc Basnight isn't governor - yet. He's President Pro Tem of our State Senate and does run a fine restaurant. Hope you continue to enjoy your stay with us. You might consider taking in the "Lost Colony" play or at least a visit to the theater and Fort Raleigh Historic Site if you haven't yet done so.

That's Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe near Manteo and is owned by Senator Mark Basnight, President Pro Tem of the Senate. You're almost correct in saying he is the governor, because he probably has more power than Gov. Easley.
The Lone Cedar is my Mom's favorite restaurant. I like the Fried Flounder plate. BTW, lunch is cheaper than dinner and you get about the same thing.
A great pizza place in Rodanthe (north of Camp Hatteras) is Lisa's Pizza (on the left, or 'soundside') and it is very good. Try the fried broccoli. Yum! (Yes, we fry EVERYTHING down here.)
If you make it down to Buxton early in the morning, visit the Orange Blossom Bakery and get an Apple Ugly. You need to get there early because they are very popular. The OB is located on the right, just past the entrance to the lighthouse, across from Buxton Back Road.
We just got back on Sunday from ten days at Saint Claire Landing, next to Camp Hatteras. We'll be back down for the weekend.
