To all: First, Sorry, I was not trying to beat the dead horse, I know there is one forum with a sticky that is 68 pages long, so sorry if that offends. Just enjoy chatting with those who have the experience to kinda see what and how others do things.

I do like the idea of staying at the state parks, When we rented a class c, we went to Lake Havasu, and stayed in an rv park, which was right next to a state park, if we had known how much cheaper the state park was, we would have stayed there.

That is what I like about these forums, I can find out what works best, and learn from others experiences, although I am sure I will still run across a lot of issues that others have experienced.

Gas prices and the high cost of RVing may not dissuade most people who are already into the rv lifestyle and have the required equipment but for some one who wants to start the lifestyle the cost to buy some kind of RV and running and maintenance costs may appear a little overwhelming.

Absolutely! There is no way I am going to pay these fuel prices--makes me too mad to enjoy the benefit of my coach. Everyone has a tolerance level and each is different. I don't find the RV lifestyle so intoxicating that I will pay these kinds of costs to run up and down the highway. Besides, living in Idaho, with our rather small population and many recreational opportunities makes staying home less of a penalty for us. Now, when the golf course closes around Thanksgiving and I am facing four months of winter, I might get past my stubbornness.

Where did he say he was in the Military?

There's thousands of private sector employees in Iraq.

The gas prices have caused us to start staying at more state parks as they are much cheaper and we decided to only do one long trip a year then some other shorter ones. We also just cut back on some other unnecessary things like going out to dinner, etc. to help out with the gas increase. I also am reviewing all my auto/rv insurance policies and things like that to compare and see if I can get better rates from other companies.

Take care and have fun looking for an RV. I loved that part!!!

We've 'slowed' our camping (fewer trips), but not stopped. We're doing the opposite of what it seems many people are doing. We've stopped the small, week-long trips. We're coming up to the Canadian Rockies for a month, however, in a few weeks. Going for the 'quality', not quantity.

Besides, I need to work on house and yard that has been neglected while working....

Had a close call the other day, The DW's uncle told her how much gas was costing in the states(currently both in Iraq) as we were researching to buy a toy hauler(towing questions for someone looking to buy). SO for a bit there it was 'heck no, we can't afford gas, so we would never use it. We we are still looking and found some smaller, lighter trailers that she loves now, so the search and re-search continues.

But this made me think......how is this affecting all those great people who provided me guidance before?

Has the current price of gas hindered how much you use your RV?

I explained to the better half that what we pay extra in gas we would make up in savings from not having to get hotels and eat out three meals a day.

So how about it? looking to hear from you all

Jim
