Am I glad I printed out our vacation trip awhile ago. I just went on Good Sam and they have changed the trip planner. In my opinion it isn't as good as the old one. But this is my opinion. I liked the fuel estimates they gave you as well as preferred or avoid routes.

they also took the diesel option off of it.. mebbee the prices were changing too fast for it to calculate them.. I would have also liked to see a place where you could have entered your projected speed. They base it on a figure,if I remember as I queried them on it,of 10% of the posted state speed limit.Sooo,if the max speed limit is 75,then they deduct 7.5 mph from that,or 67.5..That doesn't take into consideration going thru towns,or construction,or mountains,etc...

I don't like the new one either. Maybe I am missing something, but I always liked the running mileage both going and coming. Does anyone know where you can find one like that now?
Now I am debating re-newing GS as this is the feature that I use most.
I tried to contact the local chapter several months back and never got a reply. Guess they are all out camping or don't want any new members.

I went back last nite and it was the same old thing as before.. Everything was as usual..I s'pose that it's like where I used to work and the IT guys were always trying to tweak things just to show who was boss and to make sure that they were noticed so that they got their pay checks.. Seems to be OK now..

Glad to hearthe original version is back! I was in the same mood as helperzack thinking it wasn't worth renewing my membership. Hopefully now they will once again recognize my sign-in name? This was my favorite mapping site until they decided to change things, so in the last week I've learned to use Mapquest! And have you tried contacting them about their changes?? IGNORED!!

Thanks for all the posts, I am glad I was not the only one who was disappointed. I am going to go check Good Sam now. Yes you are right it is one of the reasons we stay in Good Sam. Safe Travels

Sorry to report, it isn't the same. The new route program doesn't work so they put in an "interim" program to use, which is a shortened version of the old trip planner. My original post stands...I am disappointed in Good Sam. I am not against change..but why take away a good program. Oh well, Back to the road atlas or I will have to invest in a GPS.
