Finally got fed up w/ the old fridge, new one will be here tomorrow. I don't have a pick-up, but do have a Suburban. Any problem laying the fridge down for transport purposes?

I bought a Norcold with the almost 100% recommendation of everyone on this forum and dealers.. thanks. This puppy better last and last and last... getting away from knobs and matches for button and lights hahahahaha.

RV absorbsion refers can be transported in any position. Just make sure it is upright for at least 2 hours before starting it. Doug

Might start by looking here for the manual and see if it says.

An RV refrigerator can be turned upside down. Turning an RV refrigerator upside down is called "burping the refrigerator". It use to be more common in days gone by, but still the best way to get the ammonia circulating if it stops due to unlevel usage.

After turning the refrigerator on it' side (or upside down) it needs to sit several hours (mother-in-law says 24 hours). She said they use to do this in their TT.

So yes, you can lay it on it's side, just make sure it sits a good day before turning it on.

(Had to make an edit ...)
Edit again. We're talking refrigerators here, not air conditionsers! Long day at work ... I'm tired.)

Usually there is a marking on the box if it has to be "This Side Up"

If you are worried, E-mail Norcold and ask'em or rent a U-Haul

The solution inside the cooling unit is liquid. As long as you let it sit right side up for a few hours so all the liquid can run back down to the boiler before turning it on you will be OK.
