Before you spend a lot of money on a new dish or dome consider where you do most of your camping. If you like the wooded sites a fixed roof top dish can be a real pain. We have an older automatic dish but find about half the time it's blocked by trees.

Early on we found ourselves moving the coach numerous times to try to get satellite reception. We actually went out and bought a second dish and tripod so we could use the satellite in the more wooded places. The older single LNB dish only needs a small hole through the trees to get a good signal. There's no local channels like at home, but we can live with that.

I use a Wingard automatic dish on top of my RV with Direct TV. I'm challenged so I don't get into the tech stuff. Auto is nice just flip a switch all for $1400. Like what I have.

There are some trees where we use the RV 80% of the time. However, I've never had a problem receiving the signal over them. I'd hate to purchase a dome only to realize I can't get reception in my spot.
