We have a motorhome that is 50 amp but will be staying at a campground that only has 30 amp service. Would it hurt to run both my air conditioning units with only 30 amp service.

Might be a little too much for 30 amp service, all it can do is trip the breaker. Do not try to start both units at the same time.

It would help to know what make and model your RV is.

We are more often on 30-amp service that we are 50-amp and we have know problem running post air conditioners (actually, heat pumps in our case.) But the energy management system is designed to do just that.

It might do it if they don't both surge at once. Also, the electric water heater, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, etc... would probably put it over the edge. Wait to start A/C #2 until the battery charger has gone to float. Turn off at least one A/C before starting any of the other major current drains.

If you have a decent EMS in your RV then it works just fine.

If you have an Energy Management System you might be able to do it. If not it most likely will give you problems.

I just got a Dual Power Adapter (www.psrv.net) which is exactly for the situation you are talking about. Did some research on this site and lots and lots of positive comments.

if you want your voltage to stay at 110+ you will give yourself an ulcer. I would shoot for 108 myself.

Some can run 2 AC's and some can't on 30A. Size and draw of the AC's, other loads like the converter are factors. Condition of the rig wiring and CG wiring are also factors.

Best answer is to try it and see. Monitor the voltage and get concerned below 108V and check the plug to see if it's getting hot.

Checking the voltage is not a one time check as CG voltage may vary especially in hot weather.
