So I have been reading and I have been learning.

So I know that I need for a TT or I think I need LOL

Brake controller
Hitch
Sway control

I am trying to come up with some sort of budget on these "extras" that I never thought about before LOL

Also I have seen on here about the sleep number beds for the RV. Can you use one from your home? We have one and we are maybe on planning on living in a TT for 3-6 months so I am thinking I can just put in the one we already own.

Thanks!

Yes, assume you're going to spend thousands (yes, thousands) for "extras" which are really not extra, but required for safe travel. The controller, hitch, and sway are the major items.

Also, are you set to tow? You will need a tranny cooler, if you're driving an automatic. You may need something in the way of levelers and chocks depending on what comes with the trailer.

That covers most of the travel/safety items. Then it comes down to how much camping gear you want (or don't want). Those are purely optional. For instance, do you want an outdoor grill, or a 'camp kitchen' of some type. Add-a-room? Do you have all the kitchen items you need to stock the trailer? Hoses and connectors to clean out blackwater?

I would advise that you only purchase, at this time, the basic items to safely function. Camp for a season and see what other camping-related items you find yourself wanting, or needing, instead of rushing to buy lots of shiny new toys.

Depending on you TV you may already have a tranny cooler installed, if it came from the factory with a tow pkg on it then most likely you have a tranny cooler. We just bought a new TT and it did not come with leveling jacks, the dealer wants like $400 for them installed, so i looked on the internet and you can get BAL 24" 5000lbs rated jacks for around $150 shipped. But our list of items to buy keeps growing for some odd reason, but will take it in stride and I am sure in a a couple years we will have everything.

Thanks!

WE have been tent camping for years so we have all of the camping stuff for that. That will be put into a TT(pots, pans, dishes etc)

We do have a truck that came with the towing package from the factory.

Pucka1378-
We also are moving up from tents to a TT...should be delivered here on Monday. We don't even have possession of our TT yet but I will tell you a few things we have begun to gather so we can spread out the expense of fitting out our rig. Those veteran rver's should feel free to correct me if I should mention anything you don't agree with. The obvious and $$$ towing necessities have already been mentioned but you will need some less expensive items that are also very necessary. First of all, get a good 20ft. sewer hose. CW has a Deluxe Bayonet Sewer Kit that includes pre-assembled hose and sewer fitting for $44.99 but you will also need to get a clear view 90 degree sewer adapter w/lugs ($11.10)to attach to the sewer hose. The reason you need this is bc it will allow you to see when all the dark water has been dumped. Pick up a rubber sewer doughnut (aka sewer seal) for$4.44 while you are there too. You may not need it at all campgrounds but it's better to have one than to wish you had one when you need it. You can search recommended toilet chemicals on this forum and get all sorts of good advice for that but buy them at Walmart along with the tp cause it will be cheaper than CW.

Continued...get some good tire chocks; not the cheap, plastic ones for less than $3. I have heard some bad stories. CW has tire lock chocks made by BAL model #28000A that run $36.66...not cheap but these were recommended to me by someone who has rv'd with the same pair of chocks for over 30 years. Safety and reliability are worth the price. Depending on the size of your TT, you will either need 2 or 4 chocks. Get a drinking water hose...not the garden type bc the garden type has chemicals that build up and are not safe for drinking out of. CW has a "Never Kink" 25ft. for $13.88. Also pick up a "Hi Flow" water regulator($11.66) and a hose protector ($6.66).
