I used Lexan on my two doors. One bit of advice - avoid having sunscreen making contact with Lexan - it will damage the surface - making it hazy. My 6 year old daughter was lathered with sunscreen - brushed her arm on Lexan while opening the door. I'm going to try plastic refininsh on Lexan - most likely will have to replace

You can also use a piece of plastic that is used or light fixtures in drop ceilings.. Cost about $4.00 per sheet.

Great modification. Mine was much simpler though. When I arrived home from work today, Plexiglas had been installed on my 5er's screen door too! Some nice neighbor must have come by and completed the installation. What an awesome friend - Thanks!

Karen n' Tom...I got the plastic at the fabric center in Walmart, however, any fabric store should carry it, like Joann's, etc. Yes, the velcro is covering the entire edge so that the "window" is completely sealed. Below is a picture...it's not great but you get the idea. It's not as "wrinkled" as the picture makes it appear...that's the glare from the flash of the camera.

P.S. If the section to the left of the sliding panel is screen instead of plastic like on our door...just remove the beading holding in the screen piece, replace with the clear plastic, and rebead. This portion stays in permanently and only the top and bottom pieces will be removable. Did this on a friends door...worked great!

I have done the same on two of my trailers and several friends trailers except we use the Deep Reach Panel Clips to hold the Plexiglas in the door without having to drill holes in the screen door.

We have done this on last two 5th wheels. Going to redo it this year in a tinted gray Plexiglas or Lexan. We used the thumb screws on previous 5th wheel so as not to drill holes in screen. On this 5th wheel we used industrial Velcro and it looks better. Got the color that matches the white door.
The thumb screws would fall off.

To add the finishing touch to your plexiglass door, put a static cling decal on the top section. You can get them with lighthouses, palm tress, birds, etc.

I wonder if anyones had the problems with plexiglass/lexan that I have. I bought a piece to fit the wall next to my toilet--you know--splash!. I went to Lowe's, they cut it to size. I drilled the necessary holes, screwed it to the wall and it looked great--until the next morning. It was bowed! Seems that it grows and contracts with the temperatures. Anyone have this problem? Also some talked about various ways to cut it to size--just go to Lowes--they'll cut it for you (I imagine others will too).
