This trip that we have been on for the last three weeks hasn't been the best one we've taken as the temps have been quite high(so whoever figgered that the temps in Utah,N.M. and colorado would be cool in July,oh well)a major car repair(3 injectors) and full cgs over the 4th.One bright spot has been the quality of work-campers in the cgs we've stayed at,especially at the several KOA's we've been to.The best one is the place we're at now in Pendleton,Or,Mountain View KOA. After two days of high temps, battling horrid head winds(MPG dropped from 10 to a bit over 7)and the fact that someone had stolen a key direction sign and that there are two streets named almost the same thing,I walked into the office and was met by the funniest and most efficient ladies I have met in a long time..It really made my day a lot better. Thanks to the owner of this place for his choice of help...
After all the KOA bashers on this forum,I thot that I'd give them a good one...

Sounds like these ladies really like their job. Glad they made your bad day better!

I have never stayed at KOA yet...I do have reservations for Astoria, Oregon KOA in 9 days. Hopefully, I'll join you with giving KOA a good report!

I am not a big fan of KOA's, but there is a nice one near Charlottesville, Virginia. The owners are nice and the workcampers are as well, clean restrooms, etc. There aren't a lot of sites for us at 40', but you can get in and manuever around. There is a dense tree canopy, which is why we usually don't go there, because we have satellite systems. However, believe it or not, of the TWO choices in/around Charlottesville, this KOA is actually a couple dollars cheaper.

If you are going to explore the history of the area, I can recommend it, but you will need reservations. Also, it fills up whenever UVA has a big event, aka football or another venue.

KOA's vary a lot but there's a good one in Bar Harbor, ME and another in Cedar City, UT.

We stay at KOA's quite a lot and like anything else there can be good or bad. We have had our share of both. But overall we have had some very nice stays at KOA's. There are several that we go to each year for annual trips and they even book us for our usuall spots then call to confirm. Mike.

There has been a lot of KOA bashing and I am sure some of it is justified, but the ones we have stayed in have been well staffed by nice, helpful employees. They usually have smaller sites and tend to be higher priced but we have found most of them to be clean and well maintained. We will spend 7 nights on the road later this month and six of them will be in KOAs. My $.02.

We've stayed at the Cherokee NC KOA 3 years in a row. And while I find it a little over priced, we like the staff and park. The one in Nashville was great, and so was the one in Chattanooga Tn.

Debie,I think that you'll enjoy staying at Astoria as we have been there several times and except for the first time we went,we have had a great time..They did make up for the problems before we left tho.. I would ask for one of the pull-thrus,can't remember the site #'s in the second level by the Kabins.. They are about 30X60'ish.I would also advise eating at the Bridge Bistro as it's REALLY good and even tho it's brand new,Tony, the owner was the owner of the TOP restaurant in Long Beach Wa for over 20 years...Fort Srevens is a great place to spend a lot of time as is tghe L&C encampment.. Don't miss the Astoria Tower and the Coast Guard Museum..
