I-5 to 89 to 44 to 36 to Susanville is the preferred route.
Large RVs will be just fine..
Good RVing to you,

Have used this route many times. Two lane hyway a the way. You
climb to about 6000 ft but easy climb. I love the red soil on
the sides of the road and the big trees as you go.There are a few
campsites as you go. If I remember right they are about haft way
thru.I have never stopt at any of the campsites, one is on a small
lake. Looks very nice. You will not have any problems with any size
MH. There is a nice rest area about 20 miles short of Susanvile.
Have a good trip

We just stayed at Rancheria RV Park in Hat Creek, which is about 12 miles south of the 89/299 stop sign on 89. The cable tv was out but the park was nice enough. Its more camping than rv park anyway. And, its on a small lake/pond and kind of scenic.
