I wondered that as well. I'm guessing though that because the whole thing is small, it is probably not that heavy. Notice also, there is not much overhang behind the rear axle. The GMC had issues with traction because the rear axle weight was up to double the drive axle weight. I doubt this ratio is that bad.
I'm around 62% and it does OK once I put good tires on the front.

The old Cortez motorhomes were front wheel drive, But, the engine was in the front, if I remember correctly they used the coronado drive train in those.

I think it would be fun to trick one out

Looked at it yesterday. This thing is in amazing good condition. It was obviously built by someone who knew how to do fiberglass correctly. It is as described, garage kept, excellent paint, etc. It's based on a Toronado GT, which is a rare model to begin with. I figured from the web description that it might be worth $2-3K. Owner wants a minimum of $10K and it very well might be worth a good bit more than that. Which means that it's way out of my league for just a toy.

New radiator, compressor, condenser, long block about 3K back. It's in condition that should bring $20K or better as a stock Toronado. Not quite Barret-Jackson grade, but way, way above daily driver.

It probably carries a little more weight on the rear than on the front. The reason there are two spare tires visible on the rear is that the rear tires are are a little larger than the front. But I'd still expect it to have excellent traction as it's not nearly are rear biased as a GM MH. And given its probable weight I'd expect it to have excellent performance as well.

I was told that it gets 18-20mpg at 70mph. My only comment on that is YMMV. And that stock Toronados tend to get more like 10-12 (I was an Olds/Cadillac mechanic in 1970 when this thing was built. I've seen a few stock Toronados of this vintage).

This may belong in a museum (there's a new one in Elkhart). In any case it's worth a good bit more than the $10K the owner wants as a one only, very well built, excellent condition high end MH.

Thanks for the inspection report KOG. It will be neat to see what happens to it.

I didn't like the fact that it was sitting outside in the pictures!

I concure with the "real" mileage from back in the day. Had a very well tuned 455 Pontiac Grandam 4 dr sedan, 10 mpg.
That Toro/camper would probably do about 7 @ 70 mph.
However, it is a very sweet piece of work.

It was outside only for pictures. Had very obviously been garaged for its entire life. And has been in the Atlanta area for its entire life as well. Absolutely rust free.

50pascals, the front cap is a '59 so I imagine the conversion was done in the 60's unless they converted the Cadillac when new. That is also a good conversation piece!

The one 50pascals linked to reminded me of one my brother owned years ago.

This one was made by and outfit that did the conversions commercially. It looked so similar and the time frame is close I wonder about the history of the one in the link.

All right, you guys now have me thinking about an old unit I saw sitting out in a farm field. The "windshield" was literally a wall of glass panels. Kind of like sitting in an aquarium.

Maybe I'll go for a drive later today.....
