.....a few weeks ago I hired two guys from Labor Ready, both of whom did a great job. One guy, Sean, continued to call me to see if I had more work and has put in a few days since, good kid, hard worker......

This last Monday, I had Sean at my house to scrape, sand, and prep my house for painting as he had said he had done much of this work before. Judging by what I've seen all week, he's good. Labor Ready pays guys the prevailing minimum wage which is about $7.85 in Washington. He said he would work for $10 an hour, I said we'll discuss it after a few days.

Sean was born in Michigan but his parents were killed when he was very young (I haven't asked), so he was raised by his grandparents in Boston. Stocky, tough, Boston looking 30 year old guy, seems talented, works hard, escaping the demons of a little drug and a lot of alcohol. He's been early, rides the bus, works damn hard, no complaining, quiet but pleasant.

I'm real pleased, he seems real happy to get some semi steady work, I'm REALLY hoping this kid can make it, here we go again......

I have a friend of my son doing about the same plus painting room after room. I pay him cash $20.00 per hour. I would have to pay a pro painter $35.00 so why should I take advantage of the young man. He works hard, is fast and does a great job.

My wages will give him a chance to actually survive in todays world and save for a car.
