Everybody would agree if everything was equal the tie breaker would be customer service. In that department Tiffin is the winner.
Before buying I spent more than a year looking at pushers. I found Tiffin to be far ahead of competition in all price/features in all price ranges.
While they use outside vendors for appliances, awnings, furniture,tv's etc. they make;
Outside walls, end caps, roof, glass windows, windshield, doors, cabinets and even offer their own chassis for several models.
If you have a problem while traveling and know dealers are within reasonable distance Tiffin will help find somebody who can.
A trip to Red Bay isn't necessary, but worth the time.

I agree, I think a lot of people are missing out on a good MH at a good price by not looking at them.

I feel just the opposite. I feel Monaco has the best Value! There quality is well known and customer service has been second to none. As for price, I looked at a Phaeton and found the Monaco brands to be a much better value and more for the dollar.

I am sure you have a great coach, but all of us do and have for a long time.

It's hard for you to make a statement like that unless you have had the other brands.

I have had both: a Diplomat and presently a Phaeton. Hands down, IMHO the Phaeton is a much better product, not counting Bob Tiffin and his legendary backing of his product.

It's obvious to everyone who has one that Newmar is the best manufacturer of DP's ever to have existed in the history of mankind.

Note: I own one so it must be true!

It's tough making a statement like this as it's largely opinion based. I happen to feel the same about my Newmar. It's 5 years old and I can count on one hand the number of issues I've had with it. Their customer service has always been top notch as well.

In your opinion. We recently camped with a guy who says his new Freightliner IFS chassis is LIGHT YEARS better than the Roadmaster chassis under his last coach, an '03 Scepter, and the chassis was the #1 reason he didn't even consider another Monaco product. Go figure...

For the record, we have a Spartan chassis.

As to the OP, Tiffin certainly does make a nice product, but they sure aren't the only choice. We're on our 3rd Newmar and our issues have been almost non-existent, with the radio display going out being about the biggest. Our '00 Dutch Star gasser went to the dealers once, our '03 Kountry Star never went back, and our '08 Kountry Star hasn't been back either.

In contrast, my folks Allegro gasser, while a nice coach, and even recommended to them by me, has been back to the factory once and the dealer a few times. It certainly isn't a bad coach by any stretch, and I would still highly recommend the Tiffin brand, but it hasn't proven as trouble free as our Newmars have been.

And one more thing; when we bought our '08 Kountry Star the Pheaton was also on the list, but the lack of an available 400HP engine, side radiator, IFS, and Comfort Drive simply took it out of the running.

There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

Then why is Monaco the Largest seller of Diesel Pushers in the country? Most buyer's must know something.

Monaco's Roadmaster chassis is by far the best in the industry.
The Phaeton has been the #1 selling DP for the last few years, in 07 the Phaeton was #1 and the Allegro Bus was #3 with the Discovery #2. So as you said most buyers must know something.

I don't own either but I have checked both for future coaches to have. I really like the looks of the Monaco inside and out. I do not like the stiff ride of the Camelot that I was test driving. Beautiful coach and all but I don't like the ride. Everything else was nice.
Phaeton has a very poor floor plan and I just don't like the workmanship of the interior on the Phaeton. Now we get to the Allegro Bus and that is a real nice coach and would be in my short list. Now all this talk about taking a coach to the factory for repairs is a no brainer to me. If I had to take a brand new coach to the factory for repairs I would rather just go with another brand. Some in this forum think that is the greatest thing. I think it is terrible that you have to drive several hundred or thousands of miles just to get to where they manufactured the coach. A good dealership should be able to handle 99% of any problems that come up on a coach. I can see taking back if it is something catastrophic, but just for small items? NO way!
