What are good mirror extensions for a 2008 Silverado 1500 ?? I googled and was disappointed I only got about 12,000 hits. The truck has the standard little mirrors, and would not mind just replaceing them with something well made, or the slide on type if they work. No clue on this end what to do.

I'll bet there's lots of junk out there, and you folks are the experts.

Thanks ...

I had a set of McKesh mirrors I used on my '99 Silverado. I really liked them. I had the regular mirror plus the convex mirrors on both sides. Once I got them adjusted I could see everything. You can often find them on e-bay. I got rid of mine when I bought my Excursion which had factory extable mirrors.

The 1500 uses dif mirrors than the 2500, etc. I wish I could get those big mirrors ... perfect. I am stuck with the little mirrors and so need the adapters I guess.

Patch,
Extendable towing mirrors are a factory option on the '08 Silverado 1/2T, so you should be able to buy them from Chevy and do the swap.

I almost ordered them on my '08, but decided not since the standard mirrors are already 95" from side-to-side.

If you can find the part number for the OEM camping mirrors the best place I have found to order them is www.partszoneonline.com

Enter the part number in the "Part number search box" and it will take you right to it.

Below are the part numbers for the HD trucks. I thought it was the same for the 1/2 ton but I could be wrong.

If you need mirrors for 07 up - here you go:

Part ID: 19158391 (Manufacturer General Motors)
Camper mirror kit 2007-UP Full-size chevy trucks with DL3 option code.
Price: $386.40

These mirrors are sold as a set. They are also manual extend with turn signal and heated glass. Note that you must have the DL3 option on your truck in order for the mirrors to work properly

15904034 & 15904035 are the part numbers for 99 - 07 models. Total for the two mirrors was $440.00.

Part ID: 15904034 (Manufacturer General Motors)
Description
LH TOWING MIRROR 1999-2007 Full-Size GM truck. It is a manual extend with turn signal and heated glass. This is a direct replacement as long as you have power mirrors.
Price: $220.00

Part ID: 15904035 (Manufacturer General Motors)
Description
RH TOWING MIRROR 1999-2007 Full-Size GM truck. It is a manual extend with turn signal and heated glass. This is a direct replacement as long as you have power mirrors.
Price: $220.00

2006 2500HD CC SB 4X4 Duramax/Allison

Just called my dealer (should have just started with this step I guess), and GM offers the camper mirrors as an option for the 1500 series. Part cost is about $450 to retrofit.

Maybe someone already said this and I just didn't catch it.

These are not same as the 2500, 3500 mirrors, but the same goofy oval shaped mirrors that you can pull out.

Just more info for anyone interested ..

You may want to check out the mirrors at fenderworld.com. Look just like the OEM mirrors and half the price.
