Hello! We will be traveling from Los Angeles to the Southern Oregon Coast and could use some suggestions for campgrounds and places to visit while we're there.
Based on our cursory review of the Internet, including RV.net, we are looking at staying at the following cities/campgrounds:
We probably don't have enough advance notice to make a reservation at a state campground, since we're looking at sometime in August. We don't plan on heading to Central Oregon since just don't have enough days to cover more than 2,000 miles roundtrip, so we plan to drive 101 up and back (only hit I-5 south of San Francisco).
We have kids, so we would love to visit wildlife attractions (parks and aquariums), beaches, lighthouses, covered bridges, waterfalls, etc.
We prefer to camp with full-hookups, but not a requirement, especially if we can camp in the redwoods or right near the beach (although we're not interested in camping with ATVs, at least not this trip).
Please let me know if there are other towns nearby that would be better than the ones we listed above, any campground suggestions you may have, and things to see/attractions.
Thanks!

Nancy and I just returned from a five week vacation that included Oregon. We stayed at three State Parks, Lapine by Bend, Sunset Bay by Coos Bay and Valley of the Rogue by Medford. They arevery reasonbly priced $20.00 for senior citizens. I would highly recommend all the parks especially Sunset Bay and Valley of the Rogue. Sunset Bay is like camping in a prehistoric Park, full of Ferns and other plants, sites are spacious at both and they all have full hook-ups.

First, cudos on doing your own research instead of just asking others to completely plan your trip for you, as some folks do.
I have stayed at all of the places you listed and all are the best in their locale.
For Gold Beach I recommend a somewhat funky place called Arizona Beach, about 15 miles north of town. The RV sites there are literally on the beach and there is no traffic or train noise. They have water and electric but no sewer hookups and no dump station. Check before going to see if they are still open. The owner has been trying to sell the property to developers.

Unfortunately the state has purchased this property and has shut down the RV park-- Because it is so close to the Humbug Mtn. State Park it is to be a day use only park--

Your list didn't include any Oregon State Parks campgrounds. They are some of the finest anywhere, and there are many of them along the coast.

Just returned from Winchester Bay RV Resort. Took 7&10 year old grandkids. Park itself is away from the heavy ATV areas. We did hire a dune buggy that seats 5 passengers to tour the dune area. The kids loved it, our driver/guide was very knowledgeable about the area.

Pull up the State of Oregon State Park site. There are many great beach located campgrounds with hookups in So. Oregon. Oregon has the best State campgrounds in the country!!

Our problem is that we are time challanged - late planning on our part. We figured that trying to reserve a space this late in the game would be impossible as we're leaving in about two weeks.
Our experiance with Reserve America, at least here in CA is that unless you book several months out the decent campgrounds are full.
Are the Oregon State Campgrounds less crowded?

This spring we traveled up the CA and OR coasts and stopped at many campgrounds along the way. If interested, you can find some pictures and comments on all the CG's we stayed at, as well as things we found to see and do. We loved it! Have a great trip.

We were able to get a cancellation at a couple of Oregon State Parks in June/July last year. We also found several that were not full every night.
Umpqua Lighthouse State Park
was a less crowded one.
Up the Rogue River about seven miles out of Gold Beach is Four Seasons RV Resort. We really enjoyed this spot. The jet boats will pick you up right at the park!
