My wife and have a chance to go camping with out the kids for some much needed "one on one" time. I was wondering if there are any campgrounds that would be good for 2 parents to get away with the kids. So do you know of any "romantic" campgrounds in North Eastern NC or South Eastern VA?

I don't know how romantic it is but the wife and I like Cozy Acres campground just west of Powhatan, Va just off of Route 60. It is a privately owned campground - nice and shaded, pool, horse shoes, 3 fishing ponds. Larry and Jean Daniel are the owners. All their sites are pull-thru with brick patios. I'd just as soon go there as anywhere. Check them out online at www.cozyacres.com. Tell them Allen Smith sent you!! Good Luck and Drive Careful!

That is in Southwestern Virginia, quite a distance away from S.E. Va.

My wife and I go to North River Campground over by Elizabeth City,N.C. It's in the middle of a swamp with lots of peace and quite. Real nice folks run it and it is as clean as you will ever find a CG. They have a web that doesn't do it justice, but just pull of the name. If you find something else let the rest of us in on it!

Isn't any nice campground a romantic campground when you don't have the kids with you?

Good Old American Heritage CG in Williamsburg, VA might just fit the bill - all the family amenities, plus nice eateries close by and things to do and see....or just kick back and enjoy the campground.

At Walnut Hills in Staunton, VA they have a "luxury" site that my DH and I camped in for one of our anniveraries. It is on their lake, larger than the other sites, has its own gazebo, newspaper delivery every morning. It is not secluded or anything like that, but just a few extra perks. I am sure they have a web site.
